Hi, I have a BH100 I am selling, as my new tank is starting soon. I would prefer a pick-up in Durban as I don't have time to get to the PO or drop-offs.
If no Dbn offers then I will sell to anybody interested.
Skimmer in good condition. Needs std clean, and worked great in my last tank.
Available immediately.

1 x king 2 1000lph with standard impeller @ R80
1 x king 3 with 2400lph standard impeller @ R100
1 x king 3A 400lph with no impleller @ R120
1 x sp 2000lph standard impeller @ R80
1 x sp 1000lph standard impeller @ R60

1 x jebo in sump skimmer @ R100 not sure what pump it comes with it but you can choose one from what i have that will fit.

2 x regent 50w heaters @ R50 each

relays, 24v coil, 300v 10A contacts with din mounts. R20 each

2 x T8 20w control gear and ends caps @ R50 both

700mm long, 300mm diameter, 5mm thick plexiglass for a massive skimmer! R120

hi guys.

got home to a house smelling of burnt plastic!!

my reef octopus pump for my TS1 skimmer had failed and was bubbling nasty gases through my tank water!

no idea why it failed. was fully submerged and was working fine 3 hours ago.
i took it apart and check the impeller. clean as a whistle and i can rotate it very easily.

now the big questions!

will the gases that this failed pump affect my water at all??
should i be worried???
i think i was lucky that i walked in when i did cos i think i just caught it as it happened.

the second is that i am now way pissed off at reef octopus.
i maintained and cleaned that pump properly and out of the blue it fails like this??
is there any warranty or guarantee i can fall back on?
my guess is that it is around a year old. will have to check up on the real age

Hi guys

i am looking for a lighting unit that has 2 t5's and one 150watt metal halide, i also dont want it to cost an arm and a leg.

if possible is there units that the t5s and the mh are on seprate power lines and

an extra bonus would be moonlights.

Does anyone know of someone that custom builds units?

Hi all new tank up and running 1week.
Specs Displaytank 1500Lx500Hx450W
sump 500lx550hx300w
450E reefteck skimmer
2x 200w heaters
105 2500l/h pump
no105s circulation pump
1x power head
uv light sterilizer
only got 2lights one blue and one white
17kg live semi cured rock
Did my first tests ph 9,kh 7,no2 0,no3 0,saliniti 25.

So I ordered myself the Milwaukee MI412 low range phosphate colorimeter and whooo hooo it has finaly arrived from the USA it had being lying at the post office at O R Tambo for almost two weeks and they would not let us collect it there, but thats fine as I have finaly received it. Here is a pic

Hi everyone, just a quick introdution, I'm Cecil, fishkeeping has been a hobby of mine for around 17 years and part of my business for the last 10 or so years.
I am based in Port Elizabeth and glad to see some familiar names around here.
My business is based on custom built aquariums and maintenance and hardware.

OTP 2000 impeller shaft needed

Ok TS 2 was behaving weirdly, opened up the pump and the little pink shaft that hold the impeller snapped.

Does anyone keep these or have a DIY option ?

I want to eventually place a mirror under my hood to reflect the lights back, currently my hood is painted white with varnish, what would be a better reflecter untill I put a mirror in? Would tinfoil work?

I just wanted to thank all of you guys on the forum for your help and advice over the last few weeks. I have converted to a DSB, and yesterday changed over to reggies, and sorted out the powerheads positioning, it is really flowing nicely.:thumbup:

I can see now how I was sitting on a nitrate bomb with the coral chips in there. As soon as I took the coral chips off, the mess underneath was unbelievable. If I had to redo it again, I would of drained all the water out, then taken the coral chips out. It was disgusting!!!:nono:

Anyway, looking ahead, I have been given some excellent tips and advice by Madelein and her Husband Koos, a few little mods to the DSB, a bit of rockscaping, and then finished playing!!!!!!

I will reintroduce myself in another week or two with more pics now that I have finished, or should I do it after I have put a scrubber in? Did I say I was finished, here we go again, the joys of reefkeeping!!!!!

Hi brenda :) before I start with the questions, could i just give a big thankyou for the time and dedication you give to this board. I'm sure you've helped prevent many a disaster with these beautiful animals :)

On the subject of additives for nennie's, I think it's generally accepted that trace amounts of garlic in fish diets aid in digestion, acceptance of food and general wellbeing. Would this apply to anemone's and if so, what quantities are considered safe and are there any dangers to this ?
