Okay, got no experience with this, but was told by someone knowledgeable, you need to give them a pipe (hole) to sit in. That way, they dont walk around the tank. That being said here is what I constructed today:

1) take an old piece of dead live rock and hollow it out.

2) cut a piece of pvc pipe (one I used is 75mm ID - I hope big and long enough.

3) silicon up pieces of rock around the pipe to hide it.

4) then install anemone. Okay dont know how to do this. Will have to phone a friend ... Watch this space over the next few weeks.

Started off as a real waste of time
Water was cold and there were just no fish .

Heading for home decided to have a look in one last pool.
There sitting between 2 rocks, a real nice Cream Ghost Angler fish (paper fish I think they call them). Next minute I see a bristly backed shrimp (Saron Marmoratus). Just could not catch it, my big net kept hooking on rocks. By the time a friend passed me a small net, it was gone. I ferreted around to no avail but in the process dislodged 2 bumble bee shrimps. Nabbed both of these, mission accomblished.

Then as we were walking out had another look in a different pool, the sea busy flooding in as the tide came in. Saw a nice palm sized Lanula, he decided to swim straight into my net as well. Haven't caught a decent size butterfly like this for a long time. Cant keep him in my tank but will donate him to a mate with a FO system.

Moral of the story, if you dont look, you wont find. also, sometimes the fish are where you least expect them.

Hey guys. i hear a lfs in slummies has a swallowtail angelfish in stock! i am really keen to go check it out and book it. it will then be added to Ender's tank until mine is up and running. what you guys think? i love it, but havnt done much research!

Predatory gastropod

Alot of my snails (localy collected) have been going missing. I know my hermits enjoy eating them and have also seen my maroon clown and pair of damsels have the odd bite of them when they wander too close to their territory. This afternoon i noticed this:

The spiral shelled snail appeared out of nowhere and proceeded to carry the black one up the glass and eat it!!! It held it for a while by the shell, then started manouvering it to get at the soft parts.

The black snail was producing copious amounts of slime which soon attracted two more of the spiral shelled snails.
At this point i put an end to things and removed the three offending snails. The balck snail had a visible "bite" mark on its foot, but seemed to scurry off happily once put back in the tank.

Hi All,

May sound like a silly question, but a real newbie still.

If I buy two or three different acan corals, can I put each colony next to each other - will they sting each other, even if different colour acans etc

Any & all advice welcome please

Was wondering if there are any good sources for frozen oyster eggs and pure spirulina (not mixed with a heap of other stuff). Most of the links I find are overseas based and I am trying to get some locally.

Hi Guys,

I recently installed a 1000L marine Tank and have just completed my cycling process.

I was given a ater test kit which does Ph,Alc,No2,No3 and CL tests. Problem is that there are no instructions on the box.

Anyone know what the normal procedures are for these tests? Because on the bottles there are just numbers next to a picture of a drop...eg on a bottle it will say the following No2 A 3Drops then another bottle No2 B 2 drops etc

I discoverd 2 heads of zoanthids hitch hiking on the live rock that i used to start my tank. Thay've growen about 3mm since i discoverd them, they have no color and i wanted to know how to keep them alive till my wate parametars are rite since my tank is still cycling. Or must i acept that they are going to die?

Thanks for a warm welcome.To give you some background regarding myself,I kept marine fish app. ten years ago and eventualy gave it up i think it was too much work at the time. I want to re start again after seeing the Red sea max 250 aquarium and is currently looking at getting one of those.Any advice will be higly appreciated
