wavebox vs 2 streams

Good morning all,

Should i invest in 1 Tunze wavebox or the 6105 kit with the two pumps and controller on my 1.6x70x80?

I thought I would test this skimmer, play with all the water levels and get a feel for it before I put it in my DT. I would really of liked a shoot out with differant skimmers, drip skimmate and see which sucks the most;)

Herewith pix and tests so far

hows this for a pump

I put about 70l in a 3 foot tank, check the water level. On this water level, I did let it run, then would switch of the pump, did this a few times and there was no draw back from the out flow being between 20-50mm under. I did evn have the water level right up to half way up the neck, and still no flooding back when it restarts.

check the bubble formation in the cone, they so small you can't see them.

This is still NSW, check the gunk on top already

Now the fun starts, I went to the skimmer I got in the DT, I have been skimming wet and had about 1.5l's skimate, I thought I would pour it in a imagine in an hour it would skim it out.........well.....in seconds it just went mental, the top of the bubble column was just above the cone into the chamber............as I poured in the skimate in the BB just went mental.....obviously this is in more confined circumstances, but I at least thought it would take 15-30 mins let alone an hour

so now I collected the skim mate when it calmed down and had settled a bit, poured the skimate into a 2L to measure it.

While I was pouring the skim mate in, the skimmer just went mental.......absolute baboon, before I had finished pouring the 2L in, it was already gushing out the over flow hole (and this is after when the skimmer had settled again)

Hi guys. I'm new and would like to now when some of you in the pta area are selling coral or fragging please. I don't have a huge tank but would like leather or xenia. Other soft corals as well

Hi guys,

So this is my thought. Looking at trying to get a school of tangs. I am thinking of a mix Regal Tang & Yellow Bellied Regal Tang, mix of Nasso Tang & Blonde Nasso Tang, Powder Blue and Powder Brown Tangs.

Numbers I am thinking 11, 7, 5, and 3.

How many of each? How do you add them?

Different sizes and if so which ones which sizes?

Has anyone ever tried using this as a calcium amd magnesium additive? As I understand its a carbonate wich would help buffer the ph aswell. Might be wrong. Also it occurs naturally so can it be that bad? Would there be a build up of some sort after a while of use?

Hi people

How long is my husband going to stare to the almost empty tank before ANYTHING starts growing?? He notices every microscopic thingy that can possibly be alive with tentacles and moving - or not. Can I buy him a rock with a polyp or something on just so that he can stare at something?

We only added live rock about 5 days ago!

I'm a bit confused, is there any difference between a fresh water and saltwater pump. I was at a LFS to buy a pump and the person who helped me said that the spesific pump is saltwater ready, i asked him to explain but he couldn't tell me. Has it got something to do with the shaft or casing. I know the pumps i use has ceramic impellers but besides that is there something else i'm missing.

I'm busy setting up my tank. At the moment I have decided on a DSB for my sump. Will be approx 25cm long x 30cm wide x 17cm deep.

My question is: Should I have a DSB (10cm) in my display tank (120cm(l)x45cm(w)x55cm(h) as well? Or should I stick to 2cm playsand as substrate?

I'd appreciate some good advice. Thanks.
