Friend of mine's pin cushion has started to erode at its base. Big gaping hole at the coral's trunk that has continued to grow with time. He pulled it out a few day's ago, and also noticed spots of rot under the main cap/head.
What would cause this? Some kind of bacterial attack?
So anyway last night he and myself cut this coral up into little pieces, removing all the rotting material and creating what we hope are 6 healthy frags. Never done this before, felt very alien cutting up a living organism (well the few prostitutes excluded:whistling:)
Elastic banded them (light tension) onto pieces of rock and placed them in my frag tank. Lets see if they grow.
In hindsight, will my generosity come back and bite me? Could this infection spread to my healthy pincushions in my main DT? I do run a 55W UV sterilizer for what its worth.
