Well 25 September is Project Aware day.

What are you doing to help clean up the environment.

Ideas on each sub/section, marine club/section to do their bit for this national day.

I will not be able to make it to the coast to help out their but i will be doing my bit along the river close to our diving club.

Lets see if MASA can make an impact on the environment. Come on club organisers lets get a comp together and include a social day.

so for my journey into pico's ive been looking at an auto topup so im looking for advice on the smallest float switch i can get, optical sensor or reed switch will work but i need to be ale to diy it.

I have slowly observed this fish loose its male coloration over the past 6 months. It is housed with a Vlamingi that is the boss of the tank.

Any ideas on restoring his masculinity/coloration? It eats very well.

hi guys, im looking for an old light unit body i dont need the insides as im going to be ripping out the insides anyway. im looking for a unit between 0mm and 900 mm long with any width.

Its been 2 weeks now that i have had my tank and all is stiil great. I should be adding live rock with in the next day or two, then ill post some pics:). There is just one thing that is worrying me, i have a 4ft tank (243L) and i have 1x3ft 10000K T8 light and 1x2ft Blue T8 light. Im not sure if this is enough lighting. Could someone please assist:slayer:

did general maintance yesterday and this am noticed my huge colt coral looking shrivled and not good . i did add reef snow , but do this weekly .
i see my 1 sea urchin sitting ear it , but dont think this is the prob ???
all other corals and fish thriving

So Adriaan is starting to deliver the 800x800x600 cube tomorrow(still waiting for the cabinet to be completed 3 weeks now) and have decided to start a new project that I can keep in my office. Crazy I know.

TANK

300x300x250 in 10mm startfire glass, yes I know it is overkill but I like the sturdy look it will give. Anyone know where I can get the black marine silicone? Looking to do a skinny overflow in the back.

SUMP

270x200x200 in 5mm glass with 3 compartments 1) skimmer 2) LR & cheato 3) return pump.

STAND

300x300x350 out of 12mm square rod. powder coated and marine ply cabinet. (Anyone have a piece lying around?:biggrin:)

i ran a 6055 stream on a 12volt battery on itls lowest setting for 5 days....it could have run longer but i was on my way to mauritius so i had to turn it on again to charge incase something happened when i was away

could you please advise me what are my options as in what i need and the cost? I am interested in the Stream backup and not the return pump as the return pump would be out of my price range.

Hi Guys and Girls

I have a custom 4ft for sale(120l*50w*70h) in 10mm glass, it has glass sliders and two light boxes(water level at 60) as well as two holes drilled for wires. It has a black finish(on top, bottom and sliders). It was used for FW so it does not have a overflow. And no copper meds were used in this tank as I mainly use salt to help prevent from any disease.

Looking for R1000

Notes:
The reason for selling is to make place for a smaller marine tank. The 1.2m is going to be too costly for me. Really need it to go ASAP

my nitrate just keeps on getting worse, i see my coral doesnt want to open all the way up anymore, Im not sure what you call it, saw it here where someone said they got something on there liverock and not sure what coral it was, it is a easy coral tho, but I cant get my nitrate down, just keeps getting worse, Im far away from a marine petshop, so in desperate I used some of the koi's Bioclear from Que Sera, should I do awater change? ive got no liverock only biorock, what will happen if I get some liverock now? i can only get to a petshop on saturday...my fish looks fine...

Hi All

I currently have some cheato in my sump & am looking to remove it & rather run an ATS.

The reason is the light I am using & where my cheato is

If I remove the cheato will an ATS be a replacement?

I know some people run both I could but really would like to get away from "Free" floating things & lots of light in my sump.
collecting live sand

Hi I am planing on colecting some live sand to add to the biodiversity of my tank when I go diving some deep reefs this weekend.
Does bringing live sand up fron depth require a slow acent like with bringing up fish or can I just swim it up at my normal acent rate I dont whant to end up killing all the good gogos

Hi guys

Well i have been active on the forum for a while now and i think i can finally show what i have been up to. I bought a tank from sweetnsour a while back and started getting all the bits and pieces together. Here is my list of equipment and livestock. I also got LR and water from another reefer so what i started off with was a fairly mature amount of water. Tell me what you guys think.

My only loss so far was a bi-color angel. Him and the jumping bean were getting along just fine until one day they didn't. So only one dwarf angel for me from now on

Equipment:
-270L tank - 100L x 600W x 500H. Steel stand. About 40kg crushed coral
-3ft sump with 3 chambers - inlet with skimmer followed by DSB with chaeto and then return chamber
-Tunze DOC classic skimmer rated for 1000L (yeah i know)
-6x T5 39W tubes
-2000lph return pump
-Sun sun powerhead for waterflow in display tank
-Filter pump with a combination of carbon/phosphate filtration, made by Seachem i forget the name
-Bag of Purigen in return chamber hanging over the baffle so water flows over it
-2x 300w heaters in sump
-Um what else?

-Spotted fox face
-Scopas tang
-Blue Regal tang
-Flameback Angel aka jumping bean

Anyone got experience or tips on trying to raise boxing shrimp ..... This pair are in like a "frag tank" of some sorts plumbed into the main system ..... They used to be in separate tanks but have been together now for about 3 to 4 weeks in the same tank
