Hi all, we're looking for those great photo's of yours.

There is no theme, as long as your photo is from a marine aquarium it will be accepted. All photo's to be posted in this thread. :)

There will be 3 winners chosen each month. :thumbup:

The rules:
- Each member may only submit 3 photo's each month
- All photo's must be your own
- You must keep the original full sized photo to be emailed to us if you win
- NO date/time stamps on the photo's
- You may make minor adjustments to your photo's using photoshop or other editing software, as long as the photo still looks natural
As an added bonus we would like to thank Henk Hugo from Peckoltia Enterprises - Importers of Omega™One in South Africa who has very generously offered up a prize for each winner. Prizes will consist of Omega One fish food and/or some of the Microbelift products.

Hi. I'm new to MASA and reefkeeping in general. I own a Red Sea Max 130D which has been running for 6 weeks now. I've introduced a clean up crew, as the water parameters are fine. The 4 coral pieces inside are fine...mostly...the Toadstool pincussion is busy shedding.

I aim to keep

2 X ocellaris
1 X royal gramma
1 X Blennie
1 X Goby

Stock is low as It's only a nano

Algea problem

Hi Hennie

Could you please give me some advise on algea. I have a 2.1m Aquarium for about 7months running with corals and moorish idols.About 2 weeks ago I've gange my powerglo and marine glo lights to halide lights for better light for my coral and now my hole aquarium is full of brown algea. Is this normal?

Changing glass panels

Hey guys,
I have a tank I have to replace a back panel and side panel to make it an all around view.
I've organised some cutting cable and started cutting sillicone... Frikkin mission! do I use a razor blade then Meths to clean the residue left or have you guys got any other tricks??:whistling:
Choped Kenya Tree

Hi guys I wanted to find out: I receeved a smal kenya tree frag and placed it in my tank with super glue gel and the next day it was gone, I found it stuck in my power head choped to bits. My Q is wil those choped up pieces eventualy start groing again all over my tank or are they dead?:(

Wrasse ID and info

Hi Gents

I picked up these two tiny little pencil wrasse...

Can anyone give me their scientific name and eating habbits? They are eating on the LR, but they do not take other food yet. I just want to double check their dietery requirements.

Sorry for the bad photo, but without SLR shutterspeed it is VERY difficult to get a fish to "hold still"

I can just also mention that the eye of this wrasse is redish / orange and it has a single black dot on the tail fin.

Idol Marine's inovated natural wave maker

Idol Marine have always sought to be inovative leading edge and dynamic with their approach to marines, i was very impressed with the new wave maker they have in one of the holding tanks.

its not easy to capture on film and perhaps I'll go back and have another go as i never realy got a good pic, but here's the idea....
Aiptasia - my experiences

Ok

So like most of us we all have to deal with these little buggers. Here is what ive tried and the results...

Method1 - Syringe with Tropic Marin ELIMI-AIPTAS
Physically injecting the anemones with this stuff worked about 60% or so of the time, with some needing 2 or 3 subsequent injections. Difficulty - High, the anemones retract very quickly and are hard to inject. Cost R150

Method2 - Electric zapper
Created by scubaninja and sold at a few shops online. You power up the unit and try and jab the anemone with the electric needle. It worked on some and not at all on other. Difficulty - High, the needle is quite thick and you cant reach the hard-to-get-to ones. Cost R300 or so

Method3 - Butterfly fish
They are hit and miss and will in all likelyhood nip your corals. I had no luck with this. Cost R200+

Method4 - Peppermint shrimps
Also hit and miss. I have had one for a long time and he didnt eat them. I then put two more in and have seen a decrease in aips in my tank. So i guess its a numbers game. Cost R150 or so

Method5 - Aiptasia X from Red Sea i think
For manual intervention so far this is the best in my opinion. You have a syringe again but u dont inject the anemone. It's more a case of feeding it. The syringe comes with two needle points, one is straight, one is bent at the tip for the hard-to-get-to ones. I have had 100% success with this. The aips just suck it up and a minute or two later they are gonnerz. Highly recommended solution. Cost R200

There are a few other products and methods such as joe's juice and lemon/vinegar/kalk injections. These i have not tried so cant comment. Feel free to add to my post...
