Coral dip?

Hey guys, Im looking for a nice coral dip. How is Coral Rx? Anyone used it? I want the dip to basically kill everything except the coral lol. No hitch hikers, algae etc
Anyone used this salt or heard of it?

The LFS had this salt. 20kg for R470. Did anyone use it before of have you heard of it? This is the website Aqua-pro Aquarium

Toooo all the best reefers on this beautifull planet.
I'm not happy at all, but this issue sticks in my mind and sometimes i would like to express myself but the words don't come right,because i'm Afrikaans speaking. The MODS state that there is alot of international people that is part of our forum and that they must stick to English because they wouldn't anderstand.:biggrin: Goeie genade this is OUR forum MASA.Why must we always translate. I've been at tooooooo many reefers homes and they speak my language, thank you soooo much.

I was at the LFS the other day and saw some new corals.. These look like NPS to me, but the guy was saying that they need light.. They dont know crap pretty much lol but I still want to know what these are

Hi

If I was to set up my Boyu TL 550 will it make a nice frag tank with standard lighting? (or with the extra bulb in the hood mod)

What will I be able to frag and grow out in there ?

Whats so bad about tap water.

I set some tap water aside for a couple days.
and now i have tested the water.

NO2 = 0
NO3 = 0
NH4/NH3 = 0
CU = 0
Cl= 0

I dont see whats so bad about tap water.
Please help me understand

Quality of Two Oceans water

Hi there,

I'm very new to this hobby, so apologies for the many questions!

Instead of investing up front in an RO unit and buying salt I'm considering getting water from an alternative source. I will probably get an RO unit eventually, but can't buy everything all at once.

One option is to buy the water from an LFS (at around R1/l), or getting it from the 2 Oceans Aquarium as a member benefit (Members – Two Oceans Aquarium Cape Town, South Africa)

Is anyone currently using this option and willing to answer some questions?

- What is the water quality like from the Two Oceans Aquarium for use in your own reef aquarium?

- Would I be able to use this water directly for starting a new tank? And then also continue to use it for partial water changes after the tank is established?

- Can I store this water in plastic drums, and for how long before I use it?

- Does it need to be treated with an additive of some sort?

Any other alternatives? I read that some guys harvest their water from the ocean, but I don't particulary want to wade into 2m deep freezing cold water :)

Testing and dosing iodine

I didn't want to hijack butcherman's thread, but have been reading up on iodine/iodide for a week now and the consensus seems to be that it is very hard to test accurately. I've been dosing the recommended amount of microbe-lift iodide for about a month and still not getting a reading on the salifert iodide test kit. I cant tell if I have other forms of iodine/iodide so what is the best way to safely dose?

I have a bit of chaeto and an algae scrubber in the sump.

My main purpose here is to improve colour in the SPS, especially in the blues and pinks.

Got an opportunity to do a night dive on Aliwal shoal on Friday. Permission has been obtained so it could be quite exciting. I am told that night diving on the Shoal is quite rare. Anyone done it ?
