Hi guys,

I have 30 to 40kgs of synthetic base rock for sale. It was removed from my matured system and placed in a running tank in my office. I want to sell the tank but first I need to sell the rock in it.

I will remove some of the pieces and take some photos once the sunrises.

R30 a kg per piece or R25 a KG if you take the lot.

I have 2 galvanised stands of 25mm square tubing that can handle 3 tanks above each other with place for a sump as well.

The dimensions are:

Length: 87cm
Width: 61cm
Height: Tanks 1 &2 & sump 50cm
Height Tank 3 55cm

you could possibly squeeze 2 90cm tanks back to back on one level or have the tanks custom made to fit.

Wanting to swop for some frags either zoas, mushrooms, ricordeas.

It is a Boyu TL-550 on a stand/cabinet, complete with original skimmer, original return pump, original lights in the hood as well as the original moonlight in the hood. It is in immaculate condition.

The system ran for about 6 months and then I decided to upgrade to a larger tank.

Hey Guys

I am at a crossroads with my reef. From day one I have had all sorts of bad luck with it (ask the guys from Idol). Things looked like they were coming right but it is still a massive struggle.

Softies and LPS have always done well. SPS looked good and were growing like crazy but colors were not so great. Changed up the lights and the colors were amazing and growth was still good.

I had an aptasia problem and I got a Kleins Butterfly to help sort it out. He did a good job for a bit. I knew I took a chance with him as a coral nipper and eventually he gave up on the aptasia and turned to my corals. He is gone now but my corals are in terrible shape and they don't look like they will make it.

I also have a massive infestation of little white start fish (i did research them and some eat algae and some are a problem) I just keep trying to get them out when I see them.

Parameters are all good, even wrote and app that I log everything in and graph all my readings etc. I have tried the big water changes a week, one big water change a month and then long spaces of time between water changes.

So I wanted to "start over". I was wondering if I removed my big island of rock, the SPS one with the aptasia would this be a big hit on the tank. I only want to take them out to try get the aptasia off. How long would the rock have to be out the water for the ones I don't see to die? The problem here is this is going to be tough on the good stuff in the rock.

I would also replace the sand at the same time, any problems?

Fish would stay in the tank, and SPS that I think might have a chance will be put on plugs and also left in the tank.

Just don't know anymore... other option is a nice listing in the classifieds :(

is the salt used for marine tank water, the same as salt used for swimmingpools aka, swimmingpool salt...

Hi all

I have a major challenge. I have a 1200L system with a TS1 currently running it :P
I have no bioload so... it is ok... But I will shortly need to get rid of my TS1 and look at a skimmer.

I have one requirement - it must be in my sump. Do not want is standing in my lounge... My clearances underneath my tank are as follows. 54cm height and allowed footprint is 58cmx24cm.

Any suggestions...

I was thinking even a DIY skimmer ?

Guys? any advise ?

Charl's small Upgrade

My tank seemed a bit small, so I had a custom tank build 1350 x 600 x 650. I converted my 4 foot tank into a sump with a DSB and macro algae. Total water in the systems is about 700 litters. DSB consists of a layer of play sand (10 cm), layer of live sand ( 3 cm) and a layer of Aragonit (3 CM). Sand in sump use to be in the old sump only added new play sand.
Been running a month now and my Zoas seems quit happy. Unfortunately I lost my blue tang with the move from old to new tank.
Tank is still a work in progress as I still need to close up the stand and lights, as well as buy more lights. I currently have 6 x 54W T5's on the DT and 2 x 20W T8's on the Sump.
Saving for two 150 watt Metal Halides, so hopefully soon lights will be adequate as well.

Water parameters after 3 weeks:
PH 8.4
KH 8.5
Salinity 1.025
Ammonium 0.02
Nitrite 0.02
Nitrate 5
Temp 25
Ca 440
Mg 1350

Overall everything in the DT seems happier.
Will post some pictures soon.
Any advice welcome

TS2 Exterior water depth

Morning

I have a TS2 skimmer with the exterior water level where the red line is on the picture. Is this water level correct or to high? The diagram that was included with the skimmer had the water level about 10mm higher than what mine is at the moment.
