WANTED 6 tube 54w or 80w lighting unit for 1.5m tank

hey guys im looking for a 6 tube 54w or 80w t5 lighting unit for my 1.5m tank, if its got moonlights and fans bonus, anyone selling ??? wanna go geissman tubes when the pocket allows, not sure what their availability is in the 80w though so 54w would prob be preferable ???

I would like to share this install with all and show you how I like to do things. :yeahdude:
This system was designed by myself with the focus on good water quality you will see that there is an overlap with equipment and some that perform the same function but in a different way. There is method in my madness and no piece of equipment will go to waste as it does serve a purpose.
Here are a few pics with brief explanations.
The aquarium 2.450m(l) X 0.900m(w) X 0.900m(h) Its has a slim over flow on the left hand side with a single 50mm hole for return to the sump. Other details Starfire front panel, black silicone, euro bracing, painted black on back and sides.

The stand is 1meter high constructed out of 5mm 60x60 angle iron ( over kill but the client choice). Cabinet built by the clients company this is carpentry some people can only dream of.

The filter sit outside 2m away from the tank and is enclosed in a custom structure covered with aluminum tread plate with double door on the front for easy access

5kg CO2 bottle with dual gauges and solenoid
2HP chiller
CR-5000 Calcium reactor (PH probe)
SNF-2000 denitrator filled with bio balls ( Redox probe)
Kalkstirrer ( fed from RO top up)
Reef Octopus 5000EXT skimmer
Bottom Left to right
HY-12500 return pump (feeding all equipment)
Behind the return pump is a built-in remote DSB
Fluidised reactor with ROWA PHOS
Fluidised reactor with ROWA CARBON
Bio pellet reactor with NP Pellets
Additional probes(temp,Ph,Density)
Jager heaters 300w X4
Filtration media (filter matt, bio balls and ceramic noodles)
Reservoir's (1x RO 1X Salt water)
Dosing pump ( Carbon source for denitrator, magnesium,strontium,Iodine)

In the aquarium is about 250kg live rock and a few themed ornaments (2 clay pots, 2 skulls, 2 hands)
Circulation is provided by 4 tunze 6205 ( 20,000L/H) steam pumps and the filter return split into 3 outlets at the surface.
Above the aquarium is 3 X 400w metal halides each in a custom fitting (20,000K) and 4 X custom built fittings each holding 6 X 54w tubes. There are also 2 X Profilux simu-sticks simulation sunrise/sunset and moon cycle

The aquarium ran perfectly for just over two weeks before everything was in order to add live stock so we added a few clean up crew shrimps ,starfish, hermits, snails, it then ran for an addition 3 weeks before we added a large batch of coral these pics taken just minutes after they were add.
Urgent help needed Sump base cracked.

Hi all, so tonight the secont worst thing happened(other than tank exploding) my sumb base cracked, I was strugeling most of my day trying to fix the leak until I realised I am fighting a losing batle.
I emptyd the sump ans saw it cracked from the one corner to the bottom oposite corner.

I was thinking of puting a piece of glass at the bottom but think my best option now is to build a filter room out side with bricks.

I have the bricks and some what time.
Want to build it out of bricks, like a bath but water can flow trough holes over the mineral mud and dsb from the compartment with mecanical filtration to the return chamber.

Now how do I go about sealing it and making it marine safe?

Another option is to build the floor, place the sump and build around it, but I stil need to seal the crack.

Please can anybody advise me on the best and quickest options.

O yes almost forgot, the sump is 1.8m long 70cm wide not sure of the hight.

I would have posted under DIY but marines need a sump.

Hey guys maybe someone can help me.
How often should I feed as I am feeding the fish twice a day but am going away for a week.
My Mom will come and feed the fish while I am gone I just want to know should she come everyday or will the fish be ok being fed every second day.

Guys is any one in the insurance game that can advise me, I have a power problem at the shop since this afternoon and it has still not been resolved. I am going to loose some livestock that is for sure but what I am stressing about is will my insurance cover me for this ? I have a pritty standard insurance package from Business outsurance.

Is there any advice you can give me about dealing with this like what documents and records will they require?

Hi Everyone,

My small dream began last year July (2010) when my husband made the cardinal mistake of suggesting that we buy a small marine tank. So we took the plunge and bought a Boyu 550. To me this was a "manageable" size tank. Needless to say, 3 months down the line, the Boyu was not so "manageable" as it seems and I was upgrading to my ultimate tank. Hubby thought this was it - so he went along and we bought a 300 liter tank with a "huge" sump. Hubby warned... this is it :). No more..... Well..... another 2 months later I had this notion that I had to have a "tie-in" Display Refugium next to my display tank. The plan is to finally add 2 Seahorses to this tank. At this stage it is really brimming with all sorts of creatures and is feeding the main tank.

Sooo..... That was then... and this is now.....

The big urge got to me... AGAIN... I know I dont have to explain... I see this is the norm... This is the explanation I gave to hubby. "It must be a guys thing" Never satisfied... and this is what happened.

I ordered an Idol Marine tank. 1.5 X 1.2 X 600 Starfire rimless tank. It is a 3-sided viewing tank. We're about 1 month away of moving the existing stock to their new "villa".

Hi all

Just wanted to introduce myself and say its really good to see such an awesome
local marine site.

Im new to SW though i have been keeping FW for a while. I've been doing a lot
of research, and been planning a tank for a while so probably gonna need advice quite soon.

Eqimment so far.

30 litre tank
Hob aquaclear filter (fuge mod) gonna need to find some chaeto for this
Seio 320 power head 1200L per hour
60w led light (still on its way)
Still lookin for a stong heater thats small enough

Im not sure how many people know about this so I thought i'd share it...

It's called zoa morphing and simply put it is cross breeding of zoa colonies to form a zoa with new colors and attributes. I havent had any success that i know of yet doing this, but the theory is to have two different zoas touching each other so that their mats start to grow together. This in theory leads to a new unique offspring. Could be interesting to see this in my tank with all the zoas nicely bunched...

LED Floodlight

Hi guys

Found a really good LED floodlight at Rabtron.
They have a 10 watt and 30 watt in stock.
Look like SMD type of LED, 2500lms for the 30 watt, 120 degree, big heatsink, watertight, 6000K to 7000K.
Unfortunately its not cree, chinese built unit.

i went to lfs in richwood a friend of mine works there. the owner who is off site and does all orders etc had not brought water or salt for water changes on marine tanks for months. just kept on pitching up and putting more fish in tanks. last night i popped in and in an eighty litre tank with no dsb only a couple of kilos of liverock had twenty two clowns alive plus seven dead on bottom plus one regal lying and struggling to breathe as well as a white anemone that was in a tight ball. i got the guys number and phoned him. the twit said he would pop out today to rectify the situation. i popped past at ten this morning. twelve more clowns dead. i went home got some mixed salt water, and some alpha ****to remove ammonia nitrites and nitrates. went bask to the store. did a twenty five litre water change and dosed the alpha to remove ammonia and nitrites and nitrates. I left at twelve today and still no sight of owner. dang i am so cross cos these fish get shipped across the world to die in a dirty tank. those that survive and are sold will probably have a shorter lifespan and in essence will be a ripoff to the guy who buys them. i charged the guy behind the counter for the chemicals and water( which he seemed to be happy to do)

I currently have 2 x Seio M1500 pumps in my tank, and thinking about adding 2 of the Sicce pumps with a controller.

Firstly, what is your opinion on these Sicce Pumps, and secondly do you think it would work to have the 2 Seio pumps without controllers and then the 2 sicce's on controllers?

I bought this in the US, but only found out it was a low range sensor after I received it. I need it to measure full strength salinity. This only goes up to 1/4 full strength, so it's good for brackish water, koi, testing TDS etc.
