Hi all, so I have decided to go the Zeo route but need to know what the pro's think. Currently have a DSB running do I need to remove this before starting up the zeoliths and do I remove it all at once as I am worried about the sulfur when you start to scratch in the DSB
Skimmer Broken

Well this is just lovely.. My skimmer is broken.

Got home now to find a very noisy skimmer. Took the skimmer out, was time for a good cleaning anyways. . firstly, the needle wheel and magnet is split in half.. something hard broke it.. looks like a shell.used prtley, fixed it for temp, but pump doesnt start at all :(

Then, cleaning my cup, it fell, and "crack" off is the little neck bit.

I was planning on a bigger skimmer, problem is I have no idea what to buy.

The new Skimz look nice, the Reef Octopus Bubble blasters are nice, the ATI's also.
Then there is the new Vertex range Nathan from T.S.R does.

Please , I need help here! I need to go and buy one tommorow.

Well i am off again for my second Red Sea diving trip on 19th. Did the north trip last year from Sharm. This time i am doing the southern trip from Hurghada. Brothers etc. Two weeks live-aboard. Itinerary is exciting and will keep you guys updated because WIFI is available on board.
Urgent help needed Seahorses dying

Hi people.

Please can you advice me for I have lost 3 seahorses in just 2 days. I bought last weekend 6. The hole week they eat and was happy. Yesterday when I came home 1 was already dead and later the other 1. Today when I came home another died.

This is a new tank that did cycle for 6weeks before I put them in. Did check the water last night and water is 100%. It looks like these seahorses get a few fits and then they die. I have been feeding them live brine shrimps. I will take the 1 that died today tommorow to a vet, but I am afraid I will loose more

Please can you advice me. This is no joke and I really feel sorry for them.

Hi Guys and Gals looking to sell my BH 1000 Skemmer for R 950 has a pin wheel. :)
its 9 months old, working 150%.. looking to replace it with the BH 2000 thus the sale. It's rated for 400l plus, but i have been running it on 600l with no issue.. just upgrading for peace of mind and the damn corals speak to me ("take me home with you!, i'll look perfect in your tank.") when i'm in the LFS.

It's in perfect condition, works 150% (as you can see from the cup) will be cleaned thoroughly for the new owner.. not a scratch on the unit..

Hi All
New to the game, have a tank 1.2 x 0.45 x 0.45, having loads of fun but with a few expensive casualties. I have about 8 differnt fish as to date with small amount of coral. I have bio rock and live rock as well. does anyone who who in PE makes Bio rock as id like to buy but im after a specific shape to compliment my tank.

So my tanks been running for about 2 months, and I've been using water from the local Oasis water shop. I was recently told this is'nt good not sure why.
As I under stand this water not only goes through RO process but also through ozone treatment. I have tested the water for the following.

phosphates=0
nitrates=0
nitrites=0
ammonia=0
copper=0
alkalinity=very low too low for my test to even get a proper reading.
pH=gives false reading due to low alk and therefore having no buffering capacity.

So far I haven't had any problems with the tank other then a bit of Hair algae, and diatoms, that I figured is normal. Specially in a new tank.

I was wondering if anyone else uses this water and if anyone has had any problems with it.

Hello.

Ok, I have read up about this, and have tried a lot of the remedies.. but with no success.. Problem is, Aptasia is poping up everywhere. Guess I have counted about 50+ at the moment.

So, do I go try and get "true Wurdimani" or do I get a Copperband?

Copperband will be a risky option, as it might munch on coral polyps.. so it will be put in DT, left to chow Aptasia, and if it starts munching corals, taken out..

Wurdimani's will work, but are really difficult to find at the moment..

Suggestions?

Folks,

My system is up and running, and after 8 months I finally have all the fish in it alive and well:

Bi-colour Blenny
Yellow Tang
Regal Tang
Copperband Butterfly
Firegoby
Sixline Wrasse
Clown
Diamondback Goby

I thought that once I had all these fish, the tank would be full and appear lively and active, I still find it looks a bit sparce from a fish perspective.

I'd love a Powderblue Tang or a Sailfin, but I reckon the Yellow Tang will be a bit agressive towards them (he is towards the Copperband).

My system is 700x700x650.

Any suggestions?
