Target feeding your Froggie

I am doing some research around feeding your corals. As you can see I have another thread on feeding my bubble some lance fish and he loves it.

I have read during my research that some froggies love it some don't. Mine seems to hang on to the lance fish for a few mins before the flow pump blows it to kingdom come (the lance fish off the froggie).

I feed once a week some dry freeze (the powder) Cyclo-peeze for the filter feeders, but wanted to know if anyone feeds their froggie directly with something more substancial.

Wanted to check how many of you manually feed your bubbles. I have a bubble not big around 10 to 15 cm hard shell with about four mouths.
Every two days I feed him a nice piece of lance fish and he laps it up like you can't believe. Now I read it was good to feed your bubble so I do as I want him to be big and strong :)
I was wondering how many of you out there feed your bubbles.
Losing Salinity

Hi all,

I have no idea what is going on but I am losing Salinity points before I can say hows your father.

I use a bobbing salinity measure thingie :) its a DynaMax temp and salinity measurement tool and it is very accurate. I often take a reading and drive to Wild On Pets with a water sample. They put it through their refractor meter and the bobbie thingie is accurate.

I did a water change on Saturday and did a salinity check and it was sitting at 1024. Did a check on the salinity today and it was back at 1020 - 1021....

I do lose alot of water to evaporation around 15l a week and top up manually every day with RO water (keep about 150l always around).

I don't have much salt creep I have inspected quite a bit and can't understand why I am losing so much salt....

Any idea's?

I've come to the realization that my tank is too small for all the livestock. My goby tries to eat the tubeworm everytime its fan comes out and my cleaner shrimp attacks the new peppermint who is now confined to the outlet tube. Everything is happy and eating but they are not going to be for long if I don't make a plan. I would like to swop them for frags. I know photos are "compulsory" but they look like a tubeworm and a peppermint shrimp and I need to swop ASAP.

Why can't SA's pet shops ever get these corals in?

is a question we get daily.
The short and sweet answer is WE HAVE IT IN STOCK!!!!!

We took a series of pictures of items we have in stock:thumbup: - this was of 11 corals, 1 algae and 1 anemone each under different lighting and this was the results.

MASA, We Need Your Input.

Hi all MASA members, we would like your input about a new dimension we are wanting to add to MASA, but feel we need your input and approval on this. Basically we have been approached by NSRI to try help raise funds for the organization and feel it would be a worthy cause to get involved in this. This will also give us the opportunity to raise money for other worthy organisations for example Sharksboard etc. There are many organisations out there that need our help, we would like to focus our attentions on the ones that look after our coastal regions for obvious reasons.
How we envisage this to work is along the following lines. We would set up a PIF membership (Paying It Forward membership) at a nominal fee that is still to be decided. All monies raised through this membership will then go to the organisations. In return we will offer small tokens of appreciation to PIF members, for example a nice shiny badge under your name, 200 extra PM's and a 500MB MASA email address, are just some of the examples of what we can offer. We would like to add here that there will be no difference to access to information between members and PIF members.
From the side of NSRI it works along the following lines.
For every R300.00 we raise we get a ticket to enter a lucky draw for the month. There are 5 lucky draws every month with a prize of R10 000 per ticket drawn. There is a grand draw at the end of the year with the winning ticket holder winning R100 000. So now for example we raise R3000 we will get 10 lucky draw tickets which we will then in turn sell/auction back to the members, lets say we get R150.00 per ticket we end up with another R1500.00 that we can then donate back to another organisation. Now think if we are able to raise R30 000 what a difference we could make. Please note that 100% of all monies raised by this will go to NSRI and other organizations that are decided on.
That is it in a nutshell and the question is should we get involved in this and please remember there will be no obligation on your side if you cant get involved at this point in time we realise that times are tough at the moment. I am going to add a simple yes or no poll to this just to get an idea of how you as members feel, we will work out details later.

Hi Guys, im wanting to get into the hobby again after being away for five years. Has a large full reef in the past but want to go a little more specialized this time (money will only allow this)

I want to go more SPS than anything else and could use advise on lighting ect.

Im looking at a 1200x600x500 LWH with either a 1m or a 1.2m sump, the first chamber will be inlet with skimmer (probably a ts2 or berlin xl) heater second chamber will be huge deap sand bed, third chamber will be uplift pump. The fourth will be a top up tank. I was thinking of also a extra chamber with a refegium.

Was thinking for lighting 2 x 150w MH and 4 x 900 t5's.

Any advise would be great.
