I recently moved house(7th Oct). I paid well known chap to move my 260l tank for me. It was well worth it, no damage, no losses. However, my favourite poor nennie is just fading away, whilst everything else flourishes.
It's mint green with a pale pink base. It took a few days for it to settle into a spot. I have had it 3 years; I know that it was about 1 to 2 years old when I got it. It has a Maroon Clown "Tyson", who is being being rather rough with it trying to perk it up or something.
Since the move I have taken water samples regularly to more than one LFS(to check if the results are the same). All results are that everything is optimum. No problems.(my test kits are somewhere in the abyss of boxes from the move-I found some but decided to just go to the LFS instead of wasting time)
I have heard that nennies don't like being touched; so obviously the move etc would upset it for a few days, that was expected.
I have tried a variety of subtle differences in water current and temperature to try to stop it shrinking. It is eating, but its tenticles are pulling in towards its body and curling at the ends. It's looking a dirty shade in some areas. All the normal things just aren't working. I put a new bubble nennie in the tank about 6 weeks ago which after a week split and is doing really well(and so I have twins).
I am getting into a small panic; no visible damage and it is eating, but it is fading away. PLEASE any suggestions, I am at a loss.:(:(

I got a reef octopus reactor. The pellets keep on clogging the top mesh. I have to clean it every day. This is bad because the bacteria dies and the have to start again. Now i open the inlet pipe a little so that some pressure can be released there but now the water is splashing everywere. What can i do to fix this problem?:( The reactor is running for about two months now.

Guys, I need to pick your brains.
Which corals could be used best as nutrients exporter?
I can imagine xenia would be a good one.
What about rics?
What about star polyps?
Any other corals who suck nutrients out of the water?

Found this great Article on gonies if anyone is interested.
Feature Article: The Successful Aquarium Culture of Goniopora Species — Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine
It identifies some of the different goni species and their requirements based on the experiences of the writer, he has a few different ones in his care.
I personally have a blueish purple one (4 days now) which is a bit more hardy than the yellow/green/brown ones from what I've read.
Does anyone else have one of these? And what are your conditions? Mine is till not opening up completely. About 2-3cm extension at the moment in a well lit moderate to highish flow area. Going to move him to a lower flow area tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

I started my Marine Tank (900 l) in September 2010. I have purchased ALL my equipment and ongoing supplies from Dorry Pets in Centurion. This included a Profilux Controller.
Yesterday, the pump on my Reef Octopus Skimmer started tripping the power. I called Dorry Pets for a quotation on a replacement unit, and was quoted just under R 2,000 - (A new full unit currently sells for about R 3,200)
After further discussions with Lanzo, I discovered that the 12 month Warranty expires in 10 x days time.
I popped along to Dorry Pets to ask them to take a look at the unit. On my arrival, Lanzo greeted me as normal with a big smile, and handed a new Replacement Pump to me at NO CHARGE.
I cannot think of any reason why you would want to purchase your Marine or Fresh Water equipment, stock or supplies anywhere else other than at Dorry Pets in Centurion.
Lanzo, Dewald, and Jacques - Thank you for your ongoing Professional Service - It is an absolute pleasure doing business with you guys.
Regards
ATHOL :)

Does anyone know where I can buy a Blue Leg Hermit in Cape Town?
Which LFS has?
Thanks

My Ca and Ph has never been a problem always 8.2-8.4 with fuge light on reverse cycle. I drip Kalk every now and then when Ca goes under 420. So that's about 3 times a week.
Currently I'm struggling to keep a proper balance between these parameters.
My current readings:
Ph. 8.4 (Tropic Marin)
Alk 5-6 (Tropic Marin)
Ca 440 (Salifert)
Mg 1240 (Salifert) Sometimes drops more with Ca still high.
Should I bother to get Mg above 1300 and Alk to 7-8? If so, with what?
Currently dripping Brightwells Kalk+2 if that matters...
thanks
