I was snorkelling and came across this filefish with these weird tufts of eggs in front of its eyes and on its snout.
It looked as if the fish was fanning the "eggs" with its pectorals, but this could just be coincidental, although it is interesting to note that the eggs were placed very symmetrical on both sides of the head.
I took some photos in a small glass container and a few of the eggs came loose and floated about they definitely looked like eggs of some sort.
Unfortunately (as is always the case ) I didnt have a very good camera available, so the photo is a bit bad I keyed out the background in photoshop for a little contrast, but the eggs are not very visible.
Anybody with any ideas/theories on whats going on here?
