Huge problem: dangerous chemical imbalance

Hey everyone,

So it seems I've got a massive problem. I've been using tropic Marin bio calcium which is a balanced alk, calcium and magnesium supplement. When I fist started the tank my calcium was too high (500ppm), this was all down to the salt mix (seachem). I've been keeping my alk at around 8 and from previous experience with bio calcium this has kept my calcium and magnesium in the right range but now these are my readings:

Alk: 8
Calcium: 700
Magnesium: 1800
Salinity: 1.026

What should I do to drop my calcium and magnesium without dropping my alk?

Are these readings even possible?

details - i have an Atman lighting unit im selling (1.2m length) 2 x Metal halide 150w and 4 t5 PL tubes (24w if memory serves me) has height and length ajustable feet and hanging cables.
M/H are 1500k and give a nice white light with a touch of blue, seperate switches for each MH and t5's.

I have been running Sea Chem Phos Guard for 3 days now in phosban rector and i seam to be be getting lower and lower ph4 levels when will i see the algae start to die off?

Lighting

My tank hood is with 3xt8 fluorescent (1 sera actinic blue 30w , 2 sera daylight brilliant 30w each).
As I understood these are not enough for a reef tank (or I am wrong :/) and I was thinking to upgrade it a little bit:P
I dont want to make any changes on the hood and I thought to add some LEDs on the hood as additional lighting. Is that a good idea and if yes is there any specs that I should look for?(watt etc)
Another option is to change the t8 florescent with t8s with LEDs
Any recommends/suggestions?

Since only the one eye is swollen and it's not cloudy, I'm diagnosing this as an injury-induced eye infection.

I QTed him below the tank. I think I'm just going to treat him with epson salt at this point. If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to try an antibiotic.

Hi all,ive put seagel in a RO phosphate reactor. it kept gloging on the spunge on bottom, so i took it out to let the seagel move around morre, now all the sudden the water is a milky colour, can anyone explain why and what to do?

Hi there

Im trying to catalogue all my coral specimens in my tank and would like the scientific names for these species

Left - the 'stems' are flat with polyps only opening on either of the ends?? - sorry dont have a pic with polyps open

Centre - commonly known as golden california gorgonian - is this Muricea californica??

Right - I think this is Muriceopsis flavida - commonly know as Purple Brush Fan?? This specimen came in distressed and I had to cut it down more than 50%, hence its odd shape
