Hi All

I would just like to know what would be my best lighting option for a 35cm deep tank?

I was thinking T5's? but how many of them? What combination? What make?

Can I MH? And also where can I purchase some lighting where the price is not overkill?

My tank is 90cmx35cmx35cm. I would like to keep clams, coral and anemones!

Please help!

I have had this nennie for 2 months,bought without doing enough research,size wize. did research on all requirements like light,feeding etc,but not size.its not too big yet but will get too big soon if it keeps in growing.its extremely happy in my tank and very healthy,the size its gonna get is the reason I want to let go of nennie. Im giving it away as Im in Hermanus and its quite a drive unless you have someone to collect it for you. will courrier it to C.T at takers cost. If someone has got some shrooms,shroom frags it would be awesome to swop, but if no one with some shrooms want it I will give it away to a good home.:thumbup:

Which T5 bulbs?

I have a 54W T5 light fixture (4 x bulbs). I need some advice which bulbs to use... I have 2 white bulbs, 2 blue/white bulbs and 2 actinic bulbs. at the moment I have been using 2 actinics, 1 blue white and 1 white. Which combination will be the best? Is it true that the whiter the spectrum the more algae? Because my friend's spectrum is more blue and he is not getting any algae.

Urgent help needed Corals not doing well!!

Hi I've had my new tank 240l going for about 4/5 months and everything was doing super my green star polyps multiplying like neva before,the leather growing well......overall the tank was doing great. I went away for a long weekend and when i came back my leather became this huge white blub...a few days later nothing remained.
my hammer also started to almost not come out so i started adding salt to get it from 1.020 to 1.023. I also added 2 T5's.

Nothing is seeming to help in the meantime i also added a dsb.

Help will be appreciated!!

I am packing up my hobby due to limited time to actually appreciate the beauty of it. I have given away all of my corals and fish to my dad who introduced me to the hobby. I still have all my live rock if anyone is interested. I would like R80,00 per kilo but it's negotiable.

I am in the Roodepoort area. The live rock has been in my fish tank for +/-7 years and is fully seeded.

Good day peeps, can someone explain the molting process to me. Been google-ing and cant really grasp it.

My understanding is that they leave their shell to do it. But now on two occasions I have found the remains of it and a crab still in the shell? Do I have another one hiding or do I clearly just not understand? :eek:

Coral Room/Greenhouse

So the move to the new house went well, and the only unfortunate loss was a Fairy Wrasse...

At the new house there are three 3m x 6m sheds. One of the sheds is positioned so that it gets full sun the whole day. Id like to explore the option of turning it into a Coral Room, by replacing the corrugated sheets with Polycarb sheets. Id like to have a few large shallow runs where I can grow soft corals and LPS. Im still not 100% sure exactly which corals I want to grow, but I would like to grow a variety of Leathers, Mushrooms and Florida Rics. The coral room will also house my RO unit, mixing station etc, as well as a QT setup or two.

Id need to explore options to keep the temp stable. Im thinking if I replace the roof with the polycarb sheets (clear) and then cover the shed with a blue shadecloth, it would already make a significant difference to keep the temp cooler.

Id like to get some advice from guys whove had/do have a successful coral room/greenhouse.

We came through Grabouw yesterday to find snow on the Helderberg Mountains and arrived home in a shower of ice rain.
