Hi George
I just switched from a 600 litre system to a 70 liter system (don't ask)
On the big tank I ran VorTech MP-40s but they are mental strong for my nano and they vibrate so bad they make the cabinet into a sub-woofer box.
I am interested in putting in a nano stream. I think it would be the 6055 unit but I want to control it with my Profilux.
The way is see it, is the pump with it's controller and a cable.
What would this setup cost me?
Thx,
Ross

Do Aiplasia floresce green under the blue lights? I've got large patches of what look like little brown Aiplasia, but they floresce under the blue nightlights and don't seem to be getting any bigger. Hard to take pics, because they are only about 1/16" tall.

Hi all, I am looking at buying a Red Sea Max 250. Do any of you own one ? Any comments are appreciated. I have heard there are heat issues so I want to install a chiller as well, what is a good chiller to buy? Would like the quietest possible one.

I have to take a moment to thank Adrian for the time and effort he has pu into sending my SPS frag pack.
Firstly , they were more ore less sold out by the time I replied to the thread, he took the time to put some goodies aside for me !
Secondly , as my wife is away and I am sitting with my new pup , setting up new tank etc, he was prepared to do a second trip to the airport to dispatch my goods (although he was already sending to the rest of SA today!)
Thirdly , packaging was impeccable , enough water , decent (and new) poly box, newspaper , well marked (this side up !) etc
Lastly ....he doesn't sell frags...he sells decent sized specimens !
Once again , Adee thank you...

I live in Limpopo and it gets hot - so does the tank water - I built a cooler using tubing running through ice but this is not very effective as the tubing is too thick making the transfer of the cold to the water ineffective. I am looking for a DIY solution - HELP PLEASE

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice as to acheive the following auto top-up DIY unit. My RO unit is positioned in the roof space above the DT. The water must feed to a float activated valve into to container in the roof. Similar in workings to a toilet cistern but the water must not dump into the container, it must be piped to the RO unit and then back to the container. I have a second float valve in the sump under the tank connected to the container. So if the tank needs top-up the float in the sump will drop to open and release RO water from the roof container under gravity to the sump. It's float will in turn drop and open to release water from the mains, via the float valve through the RO unit back into the container.
All very simple appart for the float valve in the container in the roof.
Any ideas where I can find such a thing?

Hi all,
I have a DNW250 and need to replace the 2 pumps.
At the moment it has 2 Resun King 3 needle wheel pumps rated at 2400L per hour.
The Resuns I have uses 35w per hour, but see the newer pumps use 25w per hour.
Should I stick with the resuns, or what other options do I have?
Keep in mind that I'm trying to save electricity, but don't want to skimp on quality.

Yesterday I watched a 4" bristle worm get cozy with the glass heater. He wrapped around it like a boa constrictor and seemed comfortable.
Then the heater came on and bristle worms are not really good jumpers so he fried.
The arrow crab who loves fried foods walked over and unwrapped the worm and has been feasting all night.

Hi everyone
i grew up with tropical fish - from guppies to oscars. Due to a move i did not carry on but started with koi in a 10 000 l pond until a month or so ago - uv light and pumps packed up , cats , kingfishers and hammerheads moved me to give up. I have always been interested in marine fish keeping and two weeks ago bought a boyu system - i intentionally started off with something smaller as i did not want to get into something bigger only to find that it was a lot of work - the koi pond had a 220 l filter so i think i can manage this one - i can always move up to bigger tanks. I am 52 and have a 2 year and 9 month old son --------- and a wife -just to give you a idea of what i still am wiiling to cope with.

Hey guys,
I am a virgin to this new fascinating world. Started out with a 1800x720x450, 620L reef tank. I have Indo live rock. Ive had it for about a month, and notices a small hairy crab. Meantime I cycled it with 3 Blue Green Chrommies. Prestine water conditions :). On Saturday I added two True Clown and two cleaner shrimp. This morning one of my Chrommies have dissappeared :(. Ive read all sorts of horror stories about crabs and getting rid of them.
What should I do?
Cheers

Hi Guys
Does anyone know what these Skimmers go for now? Is this skimmer any good?
Just bought a second hand one and wanted to know if it was a good deal.

Hi all
I have been scuba diving since the late 80's and have for some time wanted to do the Marine tank thing.
About 4 months ago, a mate of mine decided to sell two complete tanks (lock, stock and barrel). In for a penny, in for a pound :)
I have setup one of them (below) and has been running for 3 months now. As I bought all his LR and live stock, I could not cycle the system, but all has gone well ... so far :whistling:
Still need lots of coral ect, but will get that when my tank is settled.
