Urgent help needed Fish without a mature tank

I made a mistake by getting the fish first. They are under quarantine and I'm treating them for Ich via the transfer method. I'm getting my 500 liter tank this Thursday.Is there a way to keep a FO tank without live rock by adding chemical liquids to filter the water and then slowly add more live rock?

Hi guys! I'm looking for 60kg base rock coz live rock is way to expensive (R100 per kg). Second hand will also do. Must be in range of Amanzimtoti or durban.

HI all,

My names Wade, just introducing my self to this wonderful forum.

Been into marines for just a few years, currently set up a new 4ft system. All parameters seem to be 0, and salinity is 1025. PH 8.3

battling a bit with temp as i am in durban, my tank has glass sliders on top, so its enclosed.

need to get a chiller asap.

Anyway for now just saying hello,

Difficult one for the DIY pros

OK , in my infinite wisdom (and just being stingy), I re used most plumbing parts from previous tanks etc......this has resulted in a small leak at the bulkhead where my water change outlet is.....:banghead:

Any idea on how to change this bulkhead WITHOUT draining the tank.....

Hey guys

I know I might be jumping the gun a little. But I like to know before I start scaping.

I bought three awesome wavemakers off a fellow forum member(thanks again dude :yeahdude:) and I would just like to know if you guys have a specific recipe for placement.

The specs are:

Tank:

100cm L x 60 cm H x 40cm D

Wavemaker 1:

Resun 15000lph with controller

Wavemakers 2 & 3:

Seio 2000lph with trip-switch controller

I was thinking of having the big boy up top washing water and muck down the overflow and the two smaller ones facing each other.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :thumbup:

Teeth on an overflow

Hi all,

I'm installing an overflow in my tank.

My water level is going to be at 600mm - where should the teeth start? 580mm?

The teeth width is 15mm and the spaces in between are 10mm.

I've included a pic just in case I'm not explaining myself properly.
