Planning of new dymax iq3 pico reef

Hi everyone

I'm planning on setting up a dymax iq3 pico reef tank. I have already purchased the tank and various basic equipment such as a basic saltwater test kit, and extra dymax robot 14k led light,sand,a really small heater which fits into the back area,salt mix,tetra saltwater safe start and lots more.

Planning on setting up the tank after christmas so the stores are open and I can get live rock etc.

Could I just get some tips on the actual setup process and some ideas for filtration( no mod's though please;) )

Anemone ID and advice needed

Friend of a friend is selling up his system and im considering getting this anemone. The guy claims to have had it for 6 months! Anemone has settled on the glass close to the waters surface(seeking stronger light i assume).

Does it look to be in a healthy enough condition? Im sure i can give it a home better than its current. Please advise..

hi

i have one of these combo units with a 150w MH, the glass broke, how important is it to have? also where can one get replacement glass?
Clean Up Crew...

Hi All,

I followed the advice to start with a clean up crew:

2 x turbo snails
2 x red legged hermit crabs
2 x Scarlet skunk cleaner shrimps
2 x Blue tuxedo urchin`s

The algae is starting to go away and is less that half what it use to be... how does one know how big your clean up crew can be? DT 1200 x 600 x 600...

the tank is now cycling for 4 weeks and is going now for the 5th week... want to take it slow befor adding any fish/corals...

Any advice on a clean up crew???

I have a D60 Nikon SLR camera with a 18-55mm lens for sale. It also comes with a original Nikon Bag, software and charger. The camera is in very good condition and has not taken many photos. I am selling it because it is not really used and I can only take auto photos with it because when I get back to the camera I have forgotten about the tricks and adjustments learned 3 months ago. Selling price R4250.00 and I am in Richards Bay KZN.

Good Day,

After too many years of not having an aquarium Im thinking of firing one up again, almost definitely a reef tank. I have zero experience with salt water tanks. My last tank was a Malawian cichlid setup.

My question is, and I know this is almost a how long is a piece of string question, but: What are the monthly expenses typically associated with a fish only setup? And with a tank full of live rock, inverts etc? I plan to build an 800 litre tank, volume excluding the sump. I will design and build everything myself, probably the tank too.

Also, what would you estimate the power usage of a tank like this to consume? Ive just sold most of my life to the bank and am considering going all the way now to complete the mission of slavery :) Seems the logical thing to do. I know the people here are super helpful and experienced, so any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Urgent help needed Powder Blue

Hi all

I have a powder blue and this morning I was checking the tank etc and saw him acting in a perculiar manner, looking at his body I saw lumpy marks and with closer inspection ( looks like pimples, white heads ) , I have removed him and placed him under QT, 3 hours later it looks like the "pimples" are opening up.

The photo isnt very clear as he doesnt give me a chance to take a better pic, but i have outlined them on the photo.

Is it white spot or a parasite?
