I was wondering, if u are to put a little glass prism under your MH, so that the light spectrum shines into your water, then u could probably see for yourself the depth all the colours penetrate, plus it could look realy cool, ..........

I'm new to having an aquarium and I really enjoy it. I've been hearing these clicking noises similar to that of a scrape. I have been beginning to notice a lot of holes and tunnels formed in my live rock. I have been looking on the internet and i have found that the noises come from what is called a "Mantis Shrimp" and it's burrowing through my live rock. I would like to know how i can get rid of it besides pouring soda water, fresh water or boiling water into the tunnels/holes because I'm told, by my lfs, that in doing so I would have to begin the "curing" process all over again. Please could you help me... I'm clueless at the moment... Thank you.

Ive got a Sponge growing over my grean star polops. Does anny body hav a idea hou to get the sponge of the GSP or to kill the sponge whith out hurting the GSP?

Overview:
Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish, also known as the Black Perc, Black Percula Clown Anemonefish, or Black and White False Percula Clown. These tank bred clownfish grow to a maximum size of 3 inches in the aquarium, and may be kept singly or in groups.

The Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish is very distinctive with its jet-black body and three white stripes on each side. They are very hardy and are perfect for the novice or seasoned aquarist.

The Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish is a good candidate for a reef aquarium. If introduced to the aquarium at the same time, many varieties of tank raised clowns can be maintained together in the aquarium.

Tank bred clownfish are easy to breed in the home aquarium. The females will be the largest of the pair, and two fish will usually stay close to each other in the aquarium. These fish are egg layers and will deposit the eggs on a flat surface, and defend the eggs from other tank mates. The eggs will normally hatch in 6-11 days depending on the temperature. The fry must be reared in a separate aquarium on a diet of rotifers then baby brine shrimp.

Tank bred clownfish are omnivores, requiring both meaty foods as well as some greens in their diet. A high quality marine flake food, rich in spirulina algae, as well as freeze dried and frozen foods are readily accepted.

Please note: The tank bred clowns younger in age will be a deep orange/brown in appearance. After a short period of time as the fish matures, they will darken with age to jet black coloration with an orange mouth. The misbarred clowns have incomplete white stripes.

Connecting Bubble Blaster to DNW250 skimmer

Hi all,

I just bought a Bubble Blaster HY1000s from @mandarinman
I need to figure out how to plumb it into the DNW250.

First option and the easy option is to make the skimmer a internal skimmer.
I would like to keep it a external, so my question is how do I get around the air intake nozzel in pic 3?

When Curing the live rock is done?

Hey guys,
I received a couple of dead fiji live rocks from my friend to add extra rock to my tank,The rocks been out for over 3weeks, so it was completely dead, i cleaned the rock throughly and added them to a bucket with a heater and a circulation pump, i did a water change after a week, and now i'm sitting on second week,
I tested the water:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 25mg

Does anyone know if the nitrate is something to worry?Or it will be alright?

Any advice is appreciated. :1:

HELP: Advice on Powerlab Skimmers

Hi Guys

I have been offered a Powerlab skimmer for my future marine tank (Previous build had to be camcelled).

Looking at running a 500-700litre system. Someone has offered me a powerlab skimmer with bubble plate, and laguna pump with mesh wheel impellor, which he says is rated for 1000litres which i can get from the owner for under R2000..is this a good skimmer? anyone have any experience with these?

I have contacted the company, who said that particular skimmer was upgraded by them...and cost the owner about R4000 in 2010..seems their prices on the new skimmers have come down alot...im not sure if i must pay slightly more for the 2nd hand upgraded skimmer, or buy a new skimmer rated for 750litres for R999.
