So this little guy swam into my net yesterday.
Anyone know what it is? Is it easy to keep in a reef set up or should I just throw it back?
Or maybe use it for live bait?

I never feed it and yet it keeps getting bigger!:1:
Now 18 months old, and it just doesn't look like its stopped growing.
Corals have no chance against this thing.
Going to take up a 3rd of my tank if it keeps on like this.

(please, please anemone, dont ever think of going walk about !!!:eek:)

These triggers will jump.
Found mine on the tank bracing yesterday morning.
Dead!:eek:
Must have happened early the previous evening, so unfortunately it took the porcelain express back to the Indian ocean.

Tank has a full canopy, would have hoped a fish landing on the bracing would rattle its way back into the water, but it was not too be.

Good excuse to build a bigger FOWLR system!:blush: and upgrade to a clown trigger

What the heck!
Looks like smoke eminating from my big RBTA.
Its clouding up the whole 1000L system.

Corals, clams and fish dont appear too phased though. Skimmer is not over reacting.
Is this anemone perhaps spawning?

So I walk into the local TELJOY franchise and ask if they have UPS' for sale.
In fact they have 3 second hand 600W Tedelex units they are wanting to dispose of. All almost new and in good condition with their battery packs, I picked the lot up for R1500

Might be worth your time asking the same question at similar branches. Seems like with power cuts not being so frequent hire demand for these units has dropped off.

Use it, dont use it .....

Friend of mine recently bought this purple anemone
Absolutely stunning colour. Perhaps some guidance on its care , characteristics etc, would hate for him to loose a specimen like this.

So 4 of us dived Vechies today.
lIghty, Danimal, ShaneO and myself.

Water not great, end of Limestone only 1-2 m of vis with a fair bit of surge.
Nothing specacular, caught:
1) couple of cleaner wrasse
2) semi
3) striatus
4) couple of coral banded shrimp
5) Paraluterus Prionurus (Valentini Mimic)
6) Racoon fly

Saw lots of local flies incl aurigas, marley eye, black burnies, coachmen. Also black beans, goldies, tenenti tang. Some beautiful full grown dussemeris around. Bland as a juveline, but stunning as an adult. The bigest evil eye puffer I've ever seen, must have been half a meter long:eek:.

The Garage Tank

So I have this little 4ft running.
Its serving a multitude of purposes - holding tank for fish that cause trouble in the DT(PB,Foxy and Blue Damsel) boarding house for friends fish and general quarantine and treatment.
6 fish in it at the moment:
powder brown
foxface
cleaner wrasse
purple tang
blue devil
jewel wrasse
and an illusive mantis shrimp

Holds somewhere around 400L, couple of T5 tubes for lighting and a small sump with heavily over rated skimmer.

Tried to make it as maintenance free as possible, so its got a 30L ATO plumbed in and an Eheim autofeeder.

Drinking beers at the Varsity pool is nice, but I'd rather go check out some member systems.

For persons who use these boxes when putting a new fish into the main DT, typically, how long do you leave a fish in there for?
(achilles, flappy - I know you guys use this technique)

I come home today and there is a new fish in my frag tank !!!:thumbup:
One of my Bartletts anthias hav:whistling:e jumped from the main DT , and fortunately landed in the frag tank 1.5m below it.
Second bartlett that has jumped in a week, the latter being a lot more fortunate than the first pathfinder.:blush:

That brings it to 5 fish that have jumped from the main DY in the last 7 months:
bartletts
bartletts - recovered
flasher wrasse
flag tail - recovered
citrin goby

plus 2 convicts that jumped out the frag tank..:eek:

As much as I dont want to, it looks like a full covering of egg grate will be necessary going forward.:P

And not by any of my fish.
No!:cursing:

So I'm doing a water change today.
Decide to completely strip the frag tank, remove everything, to give it a complete siphon. I drop the coral in the sump but put some zoas ( attached to 2 big mussels) outside, so I can separate them and remount them on coral frags.

Finish the water change, go outside, my zoas are gone.
Eventually find them and the mussels all chewed up on my lawn.
The damn bull mastiff decided to snack on them.:1rolleyes:.

Luckily, they are all local, and it wasn't my rainbow collection.
