Just thought I would share the picture of who is sitting high up on the throne in my tank and seems to be the "king of this castle" :lol: He sits high up in the tank inside a shell i put up just for him. :)

Who said size matters????? Anyone can be king. LOL

Post some pics of who is in charge in your tank, it would be interesting to see.

HI,

Just seen my foxface floating at the top of my tank, not dead but breathing but he's not able to swim. Is he sick, do i take him out of the tank and assume he is dying??

Hey Guys,

I went down to the beach yesterday and found a couple of things for my tank.
One which i could identify was a red Tube worm, the other a huge starfish (which I now found out I can't add to my tank :() and two unknown soft ????

Maybe someone can identify these for me. The one is a very bright red color and is soft like a sponge about the size of a R5 piece. The other feels like a jelly fish and when it is open the outer rim has tubes that almost look like a flower that is opening up but in the center it has a nasty mouth that seemed to be sucking the life out of a snail and when touched it closes up completely with the snail shell all inside of it.

The picture i have shows it as it is closed up with the snail and shell inside of it. :confused1:

All of the above was found amongst rocks around Gordon's Bay in Cape Town

What is safe to keep and add to a reef tank and what not?

Hi,

I have noticed some brown algae growing in my tank and was wondering if it is time to add a cleaning crew?

My tank has been going for 4 weeks. I have 2 clown fish.
Power usage on TL 550

Has anyone noticed a significant increase in their power usage since starting their Buyo TL 550?

Mine seems to be using a lot of it. I have my pump, skimmer, UV filter, heater and powerhead on 24 hours a day. I only use my lights for about 5 hours a day.

What could be the culprit and what can I do without?
Fish Prices in CT

I was wondering if someone has done some comparisons on fish prices, LR and Corals in the CT area. I have had a look and found that the CT shops are way more expensive than JHB. Why is that?

Dorrey's TL550 Tank progress

Just thought I'd share my progress here and post some pics as I go along with my new tank setup.

Found a nice spot for my TL550 and then started to clean it out a bit before adding sand water and live rock. I bought the tank second hand so just to be safe I rinsed everything off and let it dry thoroughly before putting pump, heater, skimmer, uv light back into the tank. Started to wash my sand last night, rinsing and rinsing and rinsing some more just be make sure I remove all the dirt that could be stuck in it.:P

As a result I have broken 3 nails in the process (LOL):eek: I guess as a woman my hands are just not used to so much water and hard labour. ha ha ha ha

I added the sand to the tank and decided on a bed of 3 cm's. Getting my SW tomorrow and adding and then starting up the cycle.

Hey!

I was wondering if anyone in CT could tell me what the NSW from 2 Ocean's Aquarium is like the last couple of months. I have found some threads discussing this but that was from last year. Has there been any difference in the quality and what additives do u add to your tank when using NSW from the Aquarium.

I was wondering if any of you in CT have found significant price differences when buying stuff from the different Marine Shops or are most of the shop's prices on par with each other?

Is there spesific shops that you would recommend for fish only?

Hey Everyone!

I am new to this Forum. I am in the planning stages and haven't bought a Tank yet. I have done a fair amount of reading up thus far but I have a question regarding the choice of tank. How do u decide tank to buy? I am looking at the Buyo range or Nano Cube to start with, since I am new to Marine Fish Keeping and have a limited budget.

Would it be cheaper to buy a complete setup tank like a Nano or Buyo or is it cheaper to buy a regular tank and add the Filters, Skimmer ect.. to it?

I was looking at a small 25L or 50 L tank but was told that those are really risky to go with since the margin for error is small in a tank like that, but how do i afford a bigger tank with a limited budget?

I am planning on having a Reef Tank at the end of the day.

PLEASE HELP???
