  Butterfly tank

  Today I received my old corner tank back from @ lcornelius , so I have beem thinking how about a butterfly (Cheatodon sp.) only tank.
  
  These guys have always been cool but due to the reef safe factor being almist zero I have always avoided them.
  
  I thought it could be a nice FOWLR display for the shop...
  
  Any thoughts on mixing species etc

  The mystery of vanishing cleaner shrimps revealed

  Over the last month or so I lost 3 cleaner shrimps for no apparent reason. As I couldn't find any bodies I was considering alien abduction until last night !
  
  Doing the usual "before lights out" inspection , I noticed the mini carpet nennie's mouth had a odd coloration.....guess what there was a cleaner shrimp becoming supper :lol:
  
  I tried to take a pic as proof but the nennie sits at an impossible angle

  Difficult one for the DIY pros

  OK , in my infinite wisdom (and just being stingy), I re used most plumbing parts from previous tanks etc......this has resulted in a small leak at the bulkhead where my water change outlet is.....:banghead:
  
  Any idea on how to change this bulkhead WITHOUT draining the tank.....

  I have to take a moment to thank Adrian for the time and effort he has pu into sending my SPS frag pack.
  
  Firstly , they were more ore less sold out by the time I replied to the thread, he took the time to put some goodies aside for me !
  
  Secondly , as my wife is away and I am sitting with my new pup , setting up new tank etc, he was prepared to do a second trip to the airport to dispatch my goods (although he was already sending to the rest of SA today!)
  
  Thirdly , packaging was impeccable , enough water , decent (and new) poly box, newspaper , well marked (this side up !) etc
  
  Lastly ....he doesn't sell frags...he sells decent sized specimens !

  Ok so most of you know that the shallow lagoon is giving me some issues, so I decided to change things a bit....;)
  
  DT: 800 x 800 x 600 h, clear silicone (makes the cube look bigger), drilled return , water change etc. 50 mm overflow and 32 mm emergency overflow
  
  Filtration will be NP biopellets, moerse oversized skimmer , PO4 & carbon reactor...
  
  Lighting , planned was 150 MH ...changing to 250..
  
  Stocking will be as per my sponsor request, some mixed reef for fun

  Guys as mentioned in my thread , this tank is just too shallow to operate as a full reef and thus I am letting it go. (Was planning a frag setup....but the missus will kill me :P
  
  Main Tank : 1600 x 700 x 300 (h) , water level @ 280 mm
  Stand +/- 1 mtr high (needs a re paint)
  Sump (3 chamber) 1500 x 600 x 550 h
  
  DIY light unit 2 x dual 54 W T5 + 2 x 80 W T5 (globes are just over 7 months, I might have one or two spare)

  Rector pump advice

  Hi guys
  
  I would like to run the following off 1 pump and need some advice.
  
  1. Biopellt Reactor (ReefOcto BR - 70)
  2 Skimz FM 100 - Carbon
  3 Not sure which reactor yet but PO4 remover
  
  I was thinking using something like Eheim compact 3000 and valves to throttle each reactor to achieve correct flow rates
  
  Any thoughts ?

  How much smaller can I make my stand in relation to the tank ? I am thinking about 10 cm on the width , length would remain correct .

  Guys I need some help for a new project. I will be setting up a cube (roughly 800 sq) , I need to design a sump (would like the DSB ) but my issue is I need about 250 mm space for my monster skimmer.
  
  That leaves very little space for DSB to be effective , any suggestions ?
