Mushroom Tree

Howzit!

Ok, so mushrooms always come on the flatest piece of rock possible - and this bugs me, as it does not really look good, and takes up a lot of space in my tiny little TL550. :(

So i decided, build upward! I found this cool upright piece of live rock from my "secret live rock spot" (black bin in my garage cooking with loads of rubble in it)

Started cutting the flat piece of shrooms apart....and stuck them on the rock (oh, I find that wynns super glue works better than the bostick brand one....it almost moves water out of the way to stick!)

So the end product is a little msuhroom tree....:thumbup:

Sorry for the bad pic...will het a better one up soon! What do you guys think?

Media Reactor

Hi All

I have built my own media reactor to fit into the back compartment....thinking compartment 2/3 - 2 currenlty houses a bit of filter floss, and a floating bag of purigen, and 3 has a refugium with cheato and a light.

What i would like to know is in what sequence should I have the media:

so from the bottom up. (water also flows from the bottom of reactor upward and out)

Water IN
Sponge/Filter
Carbon
Sponge/Filter
Phosguard
Sponge/Filter
Purigen
Sponge/Filter
Water OUT

I basically just want the water to be directed trought the media, instead of just floating it in bags and hoping it works.....

Any ideas and comments would be appreciated..... :)
What heater in TL 550?

HI All

The temps have been down in PE for the last couple of days, and it seems like my heater cant cope with the temp drops....I currenlty have a 100w al cheapo..... What size should I be using in the tank? I have it set to max....35 deg.....and the tank water only reaches 24 degrees.....

what kind of snail is this, and are they safe to keep in a tank? Seen a few in the rock pools around Schoenies.....

Hi All

I have this snail in my tank - can anyone tell me what type of snail it is.....and what do they do? Eat algae? Eat left overs? He seems to be all over the place, but dont see him ding anything...... :-)

HI All

I want to fill my tank this weekend and get the cycle going....just need some advice.

The 4 chambers/compartments at the back of the tank....what do I put in them for now?

Currently I have:

Cham 1: Protien Skimmer
Cham 2: Nothing
Cham 3: Nothing (except for heater)
Cham 4: Return Pump and UV light.

Where do I put things like filter floss etc etc.....

Do I have to have the heater on during cycle and if so, what temp?

New to the forum, looking forward to learning from all of you. Awesome site and forum you have going here - was not aware that there is so much passion in this hobby! :)
