This thread is for info on the Reef Angel Controller.
We have had a lot of guys asking some questions, so this will help explain.
System Components
Reef Angel Head Unit
The head unit is the main controller - it is where the code is uploaded and displays tank parameters.
When you purchase a Reef Angel unit - the Head unit package consists of a few parts : 1 - Head Unit
2 - 8 Port Relay Box (Plug Box)
2 PWM or Analogue ports
1 Expansion Port
3 - pH Probe
4 - 2 x Float Switches for ATU Low / High function
5 - Temp Probe
You get the head unit in 2 different flavours , the PWM version or the Analogue version. The PWm is Digital Dimming for PWM meanwell drivers (LED Drivers) , and the Analogue can be used for some Tunze pumps, and meanwell drivers with analogue dimming.
You can also UPGRADE any one of these 2 options to a RA+ unit. it has more memory so you can load bigger code for big custom configuration and operation.
Relay Expansion Box And Hub
The relay expansion box and hub combo adds a additional 8 relays(plugs) if you have more than 8 plughs that you run on your tank. Each plug can be configured for timing schedules, on/off for heaters and tank temp, Dosing pump timmings, waterchange modes, feeding modes, wave pump timings - what ever you can code to it that requires on/off relays.
PWM or Analogue ports and Expansion ports are disabled on these units
You can add up to 8 Relay Expansion Boxes
WiFi Attachement
The WiFi attachement is not seen as a expansion module , but rather a attachment and connects directly to your head Unit.
The Wifi Attachment is used to give your controller ablity to update the Reef Angel Portal :

If you own a Android or IPhone , you can also control your Reef Angel from anywhere in the world with this attachemnt!
PWM Expansion Module
The PWM expansion module allows you to connect 6 additional PWM channels to your Reef Angel for dimming LED units
Each channel has a booster and outputs 0-10VDC PWM as standard signal
RF Expansion Module
The RF Expansion Module allows you to control your Ecotech Vortech Pumps.
It simulates a master and you can controll your Wireless (W) drivers from the Reef Angel
A new feature added is the Radion LED XR30w light fixture control.
Salinity Expansion Module
The Salinity Expansion Module allows Salinity (eg 35.0ppt) measurment to be taking in your system.
Expansion Hub
The Expansion hub allows you to add more than 1 Expansion Module to the system.
It has 10 ports for adding up to 10 Expansion Modules.
Dimming Port Lead Wire 2 Pack
The dimming port wire is for connection from your PWM or Analogue ports to the device being controlled
USB Power Cable
The USB power cable can be used to upload code to your Reef Angel without it being connected to the Relay Box.
Programming
Code
The Reef Angel code can be created manually with the Ardinio software If you have programming knowledge , or With RAgen (Reef Angel Generator) , a point click application that can generate the code you want for you. It generates basic code, and can then be uploaded to your RA unit.

Portal Functions
The portal offers a few functions to the WiFi enabled Reef Angel units. You can setup e-mail notifications of low/high warnings, overheat, ATU fault etc. , sms notifications of low/high warnings, overheat, ATU fault etc.
5 Different Banners (like in my signature).
And the latest addition - Live updates from your unit. The Android and Iphone app can communicate with your unit directly, or via the portal.
