Hi Guys,
I had the pleasure of seeing some other tanks in the past few days and what I have noticed is sumps that are swarming with pods.
I have a nearly new tank and would like top bulk up the amount of life in the sump.
I wonder if anyone would be able to help me get this right. maybe swop some live rock?
maybe some infested chaeto?
what would you all suggest?:P

Hi All,
I am currently building a new tank and sump
dt 1000x600x500H with 1mm crushed coral bed(2cmdeep) (slim overflow C2C with built in returns from Idol Marine)
sump 850x348x450 with seperate 850x150x500high RO reservoir tank
ts2 skimmer otp2000 pump 348x250
dsb 400x348 18cm deep with sugarfine aragonite
Return section 200x348
2x Haliea 6540 pumps plumbed independantly to the 2 return sections in the skinny overflow
Reef tank
60kg Kenya live rock that has matured in my old tank for 18months with palys and zoas and mushrooms on it.
Livestock currently:
1 volitans lion fish that leaves my damsels alone . .....yay
1 vagabond butterfly that only seems to eat brine and aiptasia....yay
2 yellow tailed blue damsels
1 coral beauty that leaves my coral alone....yay
7 hermits assorted
10 snails assorted
1 pencil urchin
My old tank crashed about seven months ago leaving me with no fish and 10% of my corals alive..... whilst away on holiday the overflow (reef octo siphon overflow) drew air and stopped overflowing and my sump dried out and the DT cooked under the MH taking my water temp. to 34 degrees........not so yay. So After licking my wounds and letting my tank tank cycle untouched for 6 months this is the new plan.
Now I would like some advise as far as reactors....
I would like to add a carbon reactor and a kalk stirrer.
Is this the best plan?
how would you do it given the new tank specs above?
any guidance would be welcome. -

old hand, new start

Right so, hello all.
I find myself starting my setup for a second time.
This time I will not start with a second hand tank and second hand equipment as this seems to be a good way to purchase other peoples problematic stuff.
I have decided to have a tank built by Idol Marine and Build and Galvanise a steel stand myself. following which I will install my new reactors and skimmer(Reef Octo otp-2000) with my new vortex flow pumps.
I will take the time to get this all done. And only then will I get the Tank surrounded by a cabinet maker.
This is the plan for my 1000 x 600 x 500High rimless tank with skinny overflow and black laminate backround.
I will use only my live rock and coral from my old tank which crashed whilst I was on holiday a year ago. I managed to save it from extinction but just only and it has recovered slowly over the last year.
But cutting corners from a price perspective has left me with a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to this old tank.
Will do this next one RIGHT!!
