I have build my own custom tank, custom sump, and have a 300L/h via aqua skimmer, I build gthe sump such, that my water falls into a compartment, and then goes through tghe skimmer before it can go through the rest of the sump, I calibrated my return pump and skimmer so all is in sequence, but now Im confused, does the skimmer need to skim all the water or just some of it, cause simce I did this, it has been skimming alot of junk out the water, bugt Im afraid Im loosing good bacteria skimming every liter of water... i have an easy fix if it doesnt have to skim every liter, but whagts best?

ive got a blue damsel my mom bought me, it has killed 3 damsels and 3 clowns already, now it is alone in the tank, so yesterday I put my hand in the tank to move something, and it started attacking me, ahaha, biting me everywhere it can, etc... Now before I get new fish I have to make plan with this little devil, what can I do with it? Some people say put it in the sump, I have dsb setup, I can put him there, there is enough space, but then I will have to add like 2 LR for him to hide in, other than that, what else can I do, or does anyone here want him? I dont want agresive fish in my tank... Else last option is, I have 2 beautiful cats, who likes fish...lol... Joking...

went home yesterday and found my clown fish dead, Im new to the hobby, loving it, but seems my clownfish dont like to live... I bought three in the begining, dont kill me now, one died cause he didnt want to eat, so the other 2 got cosy and was always together, swimming together, etc, and then my water got high nitrite, like 5mg/L, and my small clownfish died, so I assume that was Nitrite, so I was away the weekend, my mom looked after my fish, got home, and my clown didnt want to eat, already suspected something wrong, monday came, still nothing, went to buy tropic marine test kit, tesed No2 and it was 0,1mg/L (been treating my water), saw the clownsfish eyes were not normal, it was mostly white with small black pupil, yesterday got home, and dead, so wondering why he died, my other fish(still not sure what it is) is 100% and eating and swimming everywhere... My two molly's (who is helping to cycle the last 2-3 weeks since my No2 spiked) is also sharp, my turbo snails doing what they do best, havent tested all parameters yet, but water seems to be perfect, so why oh why did the clownfish died? Im very very new to the hobby, so please dont bite my head off... Tomorrow Im doing a 30% waterchange again... Oh and my zoa(finally got the name of my coral) was not feeling well when the No2 was high, but she is coming along nicelly again so proud of her... Thanx guys...

Hi guys, nice forum going on here, Im Gerard...
I have found marine tank to be my new hobby, but Im a little bit stuck with a problem...
I knew nothing about marine tanks, so I wanted to build my own one, I went shpping for a filter, so I learned about protein skimmers, so the guy sold me a hang on Via Aqua Multi skimmer, so I went and designed my tank to use this filter, and Ordered my glass, and build it, left it for a month to dry, and then I went and bought R1500 crushed coral, bio rock, testers, and salt, mixed the salt, and let the tank circulate for 4 weeks, then on saturday I went and bought 3 Stemps, and 3Clownfish, my Nitrate tested 0 and PH 8.0, and salt 0.020 - 0.022...
No one clownfish didnt want to eat, he died last night, tested my water and Nitrate is 1.0g/L so now Im woried that the filter/skimmer is not doing hisjob right...
have anyone here have experience on this skimmer, or a solution to my problem?
oh and is there a place where marine stuff is cheaper here in GP...dam its and expensive hobby, I've got a Fiesta ST and it overtakes my car by far...hahaha...
