Hey guys,

I've collected about 10 different types zoas from orange to pink, green, blue, silver, lime, rainbow and some with different color centres.. and I have frags!

I'm really into trying to expand my diversity and color spectrum, so I'm appealing to any other zoalovers to do a frag swop with me.

I am not really wanting to trade any currency at all, so am only willing to sell zoas for zoas! It will also be on a shipping only basis.. unless you stay close to knysna! Dont stress because they ship really well via the post office's speed services. I usually ship this WY it absolutely no hassles!

I am truly hunting zoas in the range of yellow, red and blue.

Advice needed PLEASE

hey Guys,

I am thinking about adding a small coral frag tank to my existing setup.

The idea is to simply set this tank up between the overflow output from my existing DT and make it's output lead directly to the existing sump.

Will this work? Can i simply increase the volume of my existing DT be about 30%? The tank will be plain glass, with no substrate, only eggcrate, for my frags and baby corals.

Urgent help needed the moon is not shining...

Hey guys,

I just got back from a long business trip to find my moon coral looking really sad. All my parameters seem to be fine and all my other LS is looking great.

He has been in this system for around 3 months without hitch, so this was a surprise.

My only thought is that he my be too high up in the tank and the 75w metal halide right above him may be too much.

Battling to upload pics from my tablet.... will post asap.

Silly cycle question

I know this may be a silly question, but gonna ask the elders anyways!;)

I'm setting up a really small nano/pico tank ( 40 litres total volume).

If i use sand, water and LR from my existing setup, am i to expect a cycle as i would setting up a new system? only other things "new" would be hardware, filter floss and carbon.

any ideas?

Hey guys,

Forgive me if i am just being paranoid..

My fairly new cleaner wrasse has a sore on his back, that may be a bite from another fish, but im not sure..

It ate like a pig this evening, but i only noticed it seemed a bit jerky and erratic after he ate. I must admit i noticed his behaviour only after i noticed the sore... so maybe im just paranoid. hope so. all other livestock is good.

He only seems to be jerky when he is chasing his reflection up and down the window, not when he is just swimming around.

this is the best photo i could get.. he's a fast one!!

If this were not a bite, perhaps a parasite, what behaviours should i be on the lookout for? besides the obvious head shaking, swimming skew etc

My DIY LED acintics

Hey guys, I had some great success with a recent LED project, i thought id share with you:

Needs:

PVC electrical trunking
Loose LED's (i used 20 royal blue... NOT UV!!)
12v Transformer
glue gun
soldering iron

Total cost: approx R500

Time:
3hrs

Results:
AWESOME!!!

The only complicated bit is wiring them up correctly... Since they are 3v leds, i had to wire 5 banks of 4leds in series, to make sure the power is sufficient. They only draw 20MA, so just about any transformer will do it.

I will try to post some decent pics in the next few days, and will gladly help anybody if they need further instructions..

Hey folks,

I ordered a purple bubble tip nammie for my tomato clown last week, and this little guy arrived...

I did a lot of researchbefore buying, and know all about caring for a BTA, the problem is i am no expert but pretty sure this is H. Malu, or Sebae anemone, not a BTA.

I introduced him a few days ago, and struggled to place him in an appropriate spot, he kept falling on his head, floating around and landing up in caves and crevaces out of the light... which im pretty sure he needs to survive.

My question is; does this nemmie need a rock or sand to plant himself in, i have him in this spot, but havt to turn my 5500l/h powerhead off to keep him here, and he does not seem to "put his roots down anywhere". does this mean he is generally not happy with something, and is therefore trying to wait for currents to move him, or is this just how this species operates?

My tomato clown has no idea what this new thing is, and has no idea what to do with it!! he stilljust chases his reflection around all day!!

back to the nemmie... water params are all within good readings, possibly sal is a bit low at .022/.023... should i raise it?

Lighting is 4 x 70w MH (14 and 20k) 1 x T5 acintic and diy, LED suppliments (blue).

Any advise or info on this species (if it is in fact H.Malu) is much appreciated

hey,

My starfish is a little bit strange to say the least... He has been in my system for 6 months or so, and every day, when somebody walks past, they say "hey, your starfish is dead!!"

I am so tired of hearing it, but can't blame them either: he is always sitting in the strangest positions... he looks retarded! but a few hours later he is looking retarded on the other side of the tank!

i have kept brittle stars before, but never these so please would somebody enlighten me: is somthing wrong or is he feeding/chilling/whatever!

I need to get some blueberry gorgonians!!

I am in dire need of some drastic color since a naughty clown decided to cover my clam in sand and take him off the scene!

Urgent help needed Yellow tang's Fuzzy Mouth!

Hey,

Introduced a YT last week, eating like a maniac and looking stunning, but seems to have a "fuzzy" coating on her lips...

At first thought it was brine shrimp stuck to her teeth, but worried that this is a fungus.

All water params in check with exception of phosphates 0.5-1.0ppm (lowered from 3ppm last week)

Any suggestions?

Hey,

Whilst hunting for a hermit in the cold water near knysna i saw a little red thingy attached to a twig.

I picked him up and brought him home with little hope that he'd survive... I was wrong!!

I now have not 1 but 2 happy healthy nennies, around an inch in diameter.

I think they are plum anenomes... Please confirm or disaggree with me... I recently lost a peppermint shrimp (as in cannot find him~) and was wondering if it were possible that one of the nennies ate a morsel the same size as him!!

Any ID and links will be hugely appreciated!

Macro/ Mangroves needed PLS!!

Hey guys,

I'm fighting a losing phosphate battle and therefore mad cyano.. and forsee the only way out as adding some mangroves or macro to the 'fuge.. I consider Brightwell Phos remover as a temp emergency measure, but need somthing more long term.

Drove 300km to my not-so-local fish shop who could not help.

What i need is sombody kind enough to post/courier somthing to me. Will gladly pay if need be.

Hey, I have been looking for my peppermint shrimp (which dissapeared amongst the rocks~) with a small LED torch... and look what i found (not Mr Minty):

Not one... but LOTS!! Max 3mm diameter...They seem to be mainly on the LR-

What are they eating?!
Do they get bigger?!
Are they going to take over?!
Am i paranoid?
