  clown and flow question

  Hey guys
  
  Got my first inhabitants in my tank
  
  4 x clowns (jungle aquatics buy 3 get 1 free)
  
  These guys are only about 3 cm long each
  
  So after "dripping" them for a few hours I put them in my 5 foot tank but they kinda struggling to swim against the current(wiggling there arses off but getting no where)
  
  I have 2 sunsuns: 1 double barrel 12000 lph and 1 single 3000 lph and my 3600 lph return from my sump
  
  So I put off my 12000 lph pump for the time been and they seem more "comfy" now
  
  Is my original flow too much for these little guys??
  
  they haven't quite found all the "caves " yet
  
  How much flow can they take ? Can I put the big pump back on once they have explored the rest of the tank am just afraid I over exhaust them with the current flow
  
  Any advice/ideas???

  ok guys my tank has been converted and is running and my wife hasnt killed me yet (It was close though)
  
  I will create a tank thread if needed this weekend .
  
  I have a 1,5 m tank and its 50 cm deep (if i remember correctly) +- 340l without my sump
  
  now a question on lighting I plan to keep softies and maybe a few lsp's
  
  will the following be sufficient ?
  
  6 x 54w: 3x 10k; 2x 12k; 1x Actinc
  
  thats only like 324 w in total or should i try get 8 x 54w(not sure about space)?
  
  
  or am i missing the pot totally and now look like a moegoe ?

  In my quest for the never the ending requirement of knowledge for reef keeping :)
  
  I'm now trying to figure out what to dose and when to start
  
  Is it as "simple" as testing your water for calcium, alk, magnesium etc and adding what's short or do you have a fixed routine of dosing or is there a daily/weekly supplement you guys use (possibly in conjunction with the aforementioned?
  
  I get it that when there's something that's short or wrong one needs to understand why first before just chucking stuff/chemicals in and I have read through pages and pages of water chemistry articles but would like some hands on examples ...
  
  There's sooo many products out there
  
  So in short and just to get some idea:
  what do you dose and why?

  macro aqua skimmer?

  Has anyone had any experience or know anything about these skimmers now I know I need a decent skimmer but can buy one of these "needle wheel" skimmers rated 1200 L for R1000
  
  Problem is I don't want to buy rubbish but the few posts on the web I can find on these are pretty good (mostly aussie sites)
  Any advice?

  Hey guys
  
  For my first marine tank(I have been in the FW world for the past 7 years) So now I've been reading and reading and read myself into confusion with regard to filtration. I haven't even considered species yet(I would like with time some of the easier soft corals with a few fish and inverts). I am right now just trying to figure out what filtration to use:
  
  I will hopefully have a 100 gallon tank with a sump obviously have a sump but I don't what goes with what?
  
  1 - Do I have a DSB with a skimmer - is that enough?
  I have read of guys not using skimmers (I can't get my head around not using one)
  1b - if I have my dsb in my sump how does that affect my choice of substrate
  2 - Do I need a wet/dry trickle filter too or filter wool with the above?
  3 - What about algea scrubbers and vodka methods?
  4 - is a refugium needed as I've read you shouldn't use your DSB as one
  5 - I'm planning to have live rock and how does that affect my above decisions
  6 - should I consider UV filtration?
  7 - what about canister filters as I've read about ppl using them in conjunction with the above
  
  So how do I know what would work best and what goes with what?
  
  Lol and I haven't even figured out how to mix my water with salt yet ...
  
  So much to learn so far to go, struggling to control my imagination ...

  I come from MASA's sister site..
  Have only been keeping FW for about 8 years now I think. I Am wanting to make the move accross the huge devide into SW so only reading and resaerching at the moment ....
  
  but so far it seems to be a HUGE difference :y13:
  
  I am considering converting my FW 340l with 130l sump but will see if I do that or purchase new
