I got these two tanks gathering dust and decided to let them go as someone might use them.

Skimmer tank, modified from a big Reef Octopus skimmer (not by me :P)
about 70litres I guess
diameter = 455mm
height = 510mm

Overflow is a durso type working with the downward pressure. Pipes included. Fine scratches on the inside caused by sponge (not by me again) - not so visible when filled with water.

The other tank is a hexagon with no overflow. Nice wooden cupboard. Glass just dirty, will be cleaned.

width = 430mm
height of tank = 600mm
height of tank + stand = 1260mm

Make me an offer... And the delivery in PTA and JHB area is free BTW

Saw something really interesting just now on 261 NGwld - Morey Eel: Alien Empire

I only saw the last part, going to keep an eye on a repeat. A big grouper came to a big morey eel and "invited" him to join him for a hunt. The morey chases the fish out of the holes and crevices for the grouper to eat and then in return the grouper chases fish into the caves, holes, etc for the morey to catch. They swim side by side to a certain area for the hunt. Amazing how nature works. Awesome stuff!

I bought this corner tank from a fellow reefer middle last year, had it up for sale for some time, no one really showed interest so I thought I'll set it up until my cube project takes off later, maybe even keep it running...

Tank is 165 liters and sump about 40, so total volume just over 200 liters excluding the live rock and skimmer space. Tank and sump in black silicon.
Still need to do the wood around the stand and underneath the sump (when cleaning sump while doing a water change)
I got some Seachem Purigen in a housing with a pump in the middle compartment.
Reef Octopus kalkstirrer.
Reeftek TS1 skimmer
Light unit is Vertex Illuminux LED (awesome!) and two Rio blue moon leds for night
Got a little 220V fan doing the cooling which does a great job.
Flow - two Seio prop 1000's
Few kg of live rock
Indo-Pacific black and white arag-alive

Most of the live stock has been running in my round skimmer tank and I transferred everything over using stability - no losses. Other tank ran for 8 months, this one for 2 months but taking things slowly

Live stock so far is

Zoa frags - red and green
Some pally's
A red monti frag which is doing great
Some shrooms
Some other pally's :P
Some star pollyps
3 pistol shrimps
1 coral bandid shrimp
Some bi-valves in the rock, etc
5 or 6 hermits
Small black sea cucumber
A few local sea stars
Only two fish - coral beauty and a fairy or flasher wrasse

So, a cheapish setup :P

Newest addition is the wrasse, have him for two weeks now and he is doing very well

Got this beauty on live rock I bought from Submariner last weekend. It let go where is was and settled on top of this rock. The foot looks like a nennie's foot. It's about the size of a R2 coin.

Hi fellow reefers, I got this timer (second hand) and needs to know how you set it. What switch is for what time intervals, etc - using it on my kalkstirrer

I just saw my hermits chow something and it looked like my mantis's skin and thought he molted. On closer inspection I saw the tail end is NOT empty and took it out the tank. It was still full of meat....my beloved little Rocky is dead :(
I don't know why or how he died as all the other inverts are fine, roaming around and eating.

Inverts are

Coral bandid shrimp
Few hermits
Small black sea cucumber
3 small pistol shrimps

The pistols and mantis came with the live rock about 8 months ago. They all lived in one tank. There is nothing that could've killed him as the pistols are too small and frankly I don't think the boxing shrimp or the pistols were a match for him. So I'm lost for words.

I hand fed him for the last 8 months every 2nd or 3rd day. I'm so gutted right now :(

Decided to advertise these again, not going to use it.

2 x 4ft tanks with double galvanised stand to be used as a shop tank or breeding setup, etc. - 1200L x 600W x 460H with corner overflow, 10mm glass. Only used for two months.

I got this nudi in my mantis tank, the little guy piggy backs on hermits and even the cucumber. Was funny how he tried to get off as the hermit wasn't standing still - took him a while - sorry for pics, tank is round and phone is flat :P

Hi guys

A friend of mine's sister in-law went to the Natal coast and surprised him last night with a bucket full of little fish, snails and hermits.
The other fish are algae blennies and a cleaner wrasse, but this one I'm not sure. Looks like a type of wrasse as well? It is in my tank atm, sorry for pic, he doesn't sit still :P

Guys, a friend of mine bought this yellow tang but it got hammered by his scopa's a bit. We took it out the same night and I took him to my place as I have a quarantine tank. After a day I noticed the fish has fin rot, the tipical white fluff on the edge of some of the fins. I started to treat him with Myxazin. Now, 5 days later, I saw that it is red around the base on one of the pelvic fins (fin is still there). Most of the white fluff has dissappeared and receided. So my question, is this red just because of the rot that is on the fin or is it starting to eat the flesh? Usually on humans the sore is still red around the area days after it healed, does the same apply to fish? What do you think?

Hi guys

OK, so I bought livestock from another reefer and also purchased some live rock. Amongs the livestock is a cute little snowflake eel about the size of a pen, +-15cm long.
I got a lot of respect for this little guy when he attacked a hermit with shell size of 6cm long and 3-4cm wide. He targeted it, went into the shell and just ripped it apart, never thought it would do that.

OK, so now I saw a little green peacock mantis shrimp in the new live rock, about 4cm long (in the same tank as the eel).

I don't want either one to die as I would like to put each in a species tank of their own - which I still need to do. I got place for the mantis in a big sump.

Do you think the mantis have enough firing power to take the eel out...or visa versa?

Tank - 1200 x 600 x 700h, 12mm glass with euro bracing. Floating base - 24mm. Slimline overflow with 2 x 32mm outlets - peninsula style - R2950

Galvanised stand - R500

Sump - inside glass covered to prevent algae in other compartments due to light - R500

Reeftek TS2 skimmer with octo 2000 pump and 3 impellers (pin wheel and 2 needle wheel) - R1000

Eheim canister - R500

12volt Bilge pump -obviously not new anymore but in great condition - the pic is to show the specs - R200

Electronic intellegent charger to keep the deep cycle battery full - switches off and pulse when voltage drop - R500

We as mods saw that during the last month or so new threads are being started in the FOR SALE forum without pictures. This is against the rules of the forum.

Most of the adverts did not have pics, and when someone asked for them the response is "I will post on the weekend", etc.

This is unacceptable and from now on all new threads in the FOR SALE forum without pictures WILL BE CLOSED OR EVEN DELETED!

Please guys, the rules are there for a reason and to make it fair for everyone. If you don't have pics yet then don't start the thread until you're ready please.

The Rancher

A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife. She was a very good-looking woman and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand.

Two cowboys applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk.

She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk.

He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching.

For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well. Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, 'You have done a really good job, and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels.' The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night.

One o'clock came, however, and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. Finally he returned around two-thirty, and upon entering the room, he found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine, waiting for him. She quietly called him over to her.

'Unbutton my blouse and take it off, she said. Trembling, he did as she directed. 'Now take off my boots.' He did as she asked, ever so slowly.

'Now take off my socks.' He removed each gently and placed them neatly by her boots.

'Now take off my skirt.' He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her eyes in the fire light.

'Now take off my bra.' Again, with trembling hands, he did as he was told and dropped it to the floor.

Then she looked at him and said, 'If you ever wear my clothes into town again, you're fired.'

(P.S. Yeh, I didn't see that one coming, either.)
