Have some products for sale after shutting down my marine tank.

install an app from the market called 'aqua pets'. Its a really basic app where you catch your marine animals - the variety of marine stock in the game is very good and you can set all the fish you catch as your live desktop wallpaper with your fishies swimming around. Catching the fish can be a little tedious but get yuor kids to do it if you have ;)

Hey All,

I am taking down my tank because of all the travel we are doing and it is becoming difficult to always find the right people to babysit. I will put latest photos up this eve so mods please leave until this eve.

Hailea 1/2 HP chiller (white one) very well looked after - R3800
IM 1000 Skimmer (beast of a skimmer - rated to 1000L) - R1500
Hailea 6500 return pump - R400
Sun Sun 5ft MH/T5 unit - 3 x 150W MH + 2 x 55w T5 - all bulbs are about 1.5 months old (geisseman T5s and BLV 20000K MHs) - one of the T5 ballasts in this unit is broken so it needs a replacement. Will let this unit go for R2000 (normal price over R6k)

an alternative to a delay switch on skimmer

Hey All,

I have this problem that when, for example, the power cuts my sump fills up with the excess overflow from the main tank. Then, when it comes back on my sump is nice and full and the skimmer as a result bubbles over - coz the water level is too high for a good 30 seconds. This is bad as all the crap in the skimmer can sometimes pour back into the sump.

I've heard some guys talking about a delay timer but I think I may have come up with an easier option that may help others.

The solution (well at least for me) ;)

take the air intake pipe (venturi) of the skimmer and mount it upside down such that it is just above the level your sump is USUALLY at. THEN, when the sump fills for whatever reason, the skimmer will stop working as it will be sucking water into the venturi as opposed to air.

Hi guys,

I've attached a pic of my new hammer - only been in tank since sunday. I would imagine the part where the polyps have died are a result of the shipping?

Any help/tips greatly appreciated.

How much to feed my CBB?

Hey guys,

My CBB has done a great job of eating all my aiptasia - taken him about 4months. There is now none left. He does however eat Mysis shrimp out of the water column. My question is how often, how much to feed him. He is medium sized. What I have noticed is that he only eats the bodies of the mysis, always spitting the heads out.

I really dont want to overfeed my tank - nutrients, but I also dont want to lose my CBB.

Hey Guys,

I've decided to put up some info and pics of my system. I initially created a thread on SARK but have decided that MASA is my new home ;)

Trying to keep up on 2 forums is just crazy.

Anyway so here goes. This is my first real tank. I used to keep a small tank back in the day at school (when we still used undergravel filters :D)

I enjoy DIY so most of the stuff, i've done by myself, like building my tank, the stand, tiling the wall, etc.

SO here is the pic of the tank being glued (dimensions - 1.6m x 700mm x 700mm), with side overflow.

Then, a nice big hole in my dining room wall, luckily for me, the dining room shares a wall with the garage (soon to be engine room).

and then finally, my home made stand, made from 40mm angle iron.
