Hey all
Can i add some more fish to this tank
I have a trident 195 i think, corner unit
I have 2 clown, male and female
a yellow tang
a yellow and blue fish, not sure what its called
a shrimpy thing with big antennae
a sea hare
a small starfish
a goldfish type fish with blue eyes
lots of live rock, a toadstool and i think some small coral. I have pics on my profile if u can help identify anything I have and any tips to keep them. (inherited the tank)
I was hoping to add something like a sea snake or Ray. Ive seen them in my local shop and they look really good. Any help here would be great.
All my water levels, NO2, NO3, NH3/NH4, PO4, KH are all ok, except NO3 nitrate which I cannot get below 100mg (red) no matter how many water changes I do.
I was also recommended to try a few Fire Gobies also, but im not sure what to try.
thanks for all your help

Hey all
I thought I had some Clownfish eggs just in a kind of clear fluid attached to a rock wall, they were always being guarded by the smaller of the two clowns and he would waft them with his fins at every chance he had.
Woke up this morning and they have all gone.
Does this mean they have hatched and been eaten or have they been moved somewhere?
Im new to this as u probably can tell
thanks

Hey guys
can u assist with my water tests
Again for those that dont know, I am a complete newbie and have NO IDEA how to run a marine tank. This is a tank that I have inherited 2nd hand from family.
The livestock, filters, fans, blowers, protein skimmer and thermometer all came with the tank
so did all the test kits, which iam using now to test the water.
the water was the original water from the tank, we just emptied it into containers and re-poured it back in.
the tank is also full of live rock, i can show pics if required.
Here are my test results based on the kits that came with the Tank.
Tropic Marin KH Alkalinity Test: 5dkh
Tetra Test NO-2 NITRITE: yellow, <0.3mg/l
Tetra Test NO-3 NITRATE: quite red about 50mg/l
Tetra Test NH3/NH+4 Total Ammonia: pale green, 0mg/l
Tetra Test pH: 7.9
Salifert PO4 Profi Test Phosphate: about 0.15ppm
or 0.06 ppm phosphate-phosphor
Are there any other test I need to perform?
What if the kit is out of date? how will i know?
How can I change a particular setting, how do I decrease/Increase it?
thanks for all the help

Hi again
I finally bought the tank and moved it to my house, which was quiet a job.
I will take a pic of it setup later for you all.
I have only 5 fish in my tank.
Any help identifying them would be great when I get a picture attached.
2 are clown fish and they hang around a particular rock.
1 is bigger than the other and thats the female I think. When I was putting the live rock in the tank on setup, she kept on attacking my hand as it entered the tank. She was very quick and was very aggressive.
Why would this happen? are they normally this aggressive?
thanks again for the advice

Hello all
first time poster
I have been given the oppurtunity to purchase a 2nd hand setup from my uncle
he has a decent sized tank, with a protein skimmer, external filter, 2 blowers on the glass and loads of live rock. a few fish, 2 clowns and a shrimp thing and a toadstool thing.
I have never had a marine setup before and come to you guys for help and advice.
He has a base of coral, which is a bit ugly to be honest, I would much prefer sand.
is this a big job to chage the base from crushed coral to sand?
also, the live rock is a bit green in places, should this be left or cleaned somehow?
I may take some pics and show you if i can round to his house.
He said its easy to move, just empty the water level to about 25% and take out the live rock and wrap in paper. we would also be draining the water and refilling it.
is this ok?

Hi All
After introducing some recent fish to my tropical tank, every fish died, and we are quiet disappointed tbh. BUT, it does give us an oppurtunity now to try Marine, which is what we have wanted for some time.
We are total newbies to marine and i will sift through this forum hoping not to ask the same questions everyone else has asked, but its nice to discuss things so hopefully I will get lots of good advice.
I will upload some photos of my current tank size and equipment that I might be able to salvage from the tropical side of things.
Money is an issue this close to Christmas and we have lots of small fry in our family (excuse the pun), so hopefully I may be able to do this a bit cheaper with good advice.
Will upload some pics soon, thanks
