  Toooo all the best reefers on this beautifull planet.
  I'm not happy at all, but this issue sticks in my mind and sometimes i would like to express myself but the words don't come right,because i'm Afrikaans speaking. The MODS state that there is alot of international people that is part of our forum and that they must stick to English because they wouldn't anderstand.:biggrin: Goeie genade this is OUR forum MASA.Why must we always translate. I've been at tooooooo many reefers homes and they speak my language, thank you soooo much.

  Urgent help needed Need to move LS urgently

  Mods, i dont hope you mind me posting this sale in this thread. The thing is after putting my complete setup up for sale, some of the sales that was dibbed didn't go through as a result that may setup is now taken down for nottin :(. I have moved all the LS to another 4ft system that i have. The thing is the filtration is not coping very well with the massive bio-load introduced this weekend.
  
  I had to do a water change this morning to get the parameters back in place.
  
  I'm asking reefers to please help me move the LS asap. I don't want them to suffer let alone die.
  
  I am willing to meet at a central location (if there is anough response) friday 12:00 at the pertol garage in midrand(one with the restaurant over the highway, oramp just before olifantsfontein coming from JHB), to accomadate the reefers that can't get to vanderbijlpark.
  
  I also aked that when you guys dibbs, please be sure that you would be taking it. I dont want to bag the LS and when i get to midrand half the sales don't go through. This will put unecessary stress on the LS.
  Your help will be much appreciated

  Fish Auto Feeder

  Is there any gurru out there that uses one of these and how reliable are they.
  I know some of them feed up to 4x per day but don't know for how many days on end. Some work with air, batteries, 12v and 220v ect.
  There must be a SLIM PIET on this forum that can build one that can feed up to 2 weeks non stop, i'll even be a sponsor to get this thing going, just think :thumbup:MASA FEEDER:thumbup: sounds good hey.

  Big Blackhole

  A warm hello to all the reefers out there. I think i came to a point that i have to quit marines, i became addicted to this hobby. Always buying stuff, upgrading, spending thousands left right and centre, forgetting about the wife, kids and grandchildren.
  Can't go any where, WHY? no one to look after the tank, cancelled the 2009 Dec holiday, busy upgrading.
  My daily routine, wake up at 5am, sort out the tank till 6am, shower and of to work from 7am -17pm, back home 30min, check my setup, of to the gym another 45min -1hr, back home feed the fish and do routine work. By now i'ts 8pm, have a meal BUT only me at the table. Have a shower and check if everything is still OK with my setup. Now i'ts 9pm, wife already in bed. Eish what a life to have.
  Weekends even worser, cleaning, water changes, of to the LFS to see if there is'nt something i can buy, some times the whole day. No time to visit friends and relax.
  When we were on holiday December my son looked after my tank but this was not nice at all, me enjoying myself and he had to be there twice a day.
  Can someone tell me if i'm doing something wrong or stupid to quit.
  I will still be on the forum because there are wonderfull people out there and i made alot of friends.
  In a few weeks or so i'll sell all my stuff on the forum and believe me there will be bargains. Sorry have to go now - routine stuff.:thumbup:

  I didn't expect this from a fellow reefer.

  I went down to the North Coast for a few days to relax and do some snorkeling. Weather was a bit bad most of the time but on Saturday i went down to Thomsonsbay in the afternoon on low tide and had a few good dives along the beach towards Ballito. Saw some nice Butterflies but not easy to catch.
  On my way back i stopped at the Tidel pool and had a dive there as well not to do any collection as i'ts against the law. There were two young guys also snorkeling in the pool and the one guy started talking to me and he told me that he's also a member on MASA forum, even gave me his forum name. I told him about the fish i saw along the beach and they left.
  A few minutes later they were back asking if i had any luck and i said what luck but you could see they were not very happy about my answer, all they do is try and peep in my bucket what was cooking and they left.
  I left about ten minutes later and here the shit started, on my way up to the parking area the life saver asked me if i've got a permit, and i replied What for, he said for diving and catching fish in the tidel pool. I said you must be crazy, do you see any fish. By the way do you need a permit to swim in a pool, i was really pissed of. No i don't see any fish but the two youngsters that had been talking to me previously phoned the Parksboard and they are waiting for you to lock you up.
  Got nothing to hide, started laughing to myself on the way up and at the parking bay, guess whow!! MR PARKSBOARD, very nice guy and he told me the whole story. Not guilty, i wonder who made a ass of himself.

IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKES THIS WORLD WHAT IT IT'S TODAY.ACCORDING TO YOUR BEHAVIOUR I WONDER ABOUT ALL YOUR STUFF IN YOUR TANK, DID YOU BUY IT OR BY POACHING (AS YOU TOLD ME THAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR LIVE ROCK WHEN WE HAD THE CONVERSATION, AND I TOLD YOU I'TS NOT LEGAL)
  SO PLEASE BOETIE PULL YOUSELF TOGETHER, YOU ARE STILL WET BEHIND THE EARS, GOT ALLOT TO LEARN.

  Sea sand

  I would like to share this with everyone. In May when i was at the coast i filled a 50ltr bucket with sea sand to use for my new DSB's i was planning. Last week i installed the two tanks, added NSW, washed the sand with RO water and filled the DSB's. The next day i tested the water, the system was not yet connected to my DT, i was stunned to see all the critters in the sump, they look like pods or sealice, about 5-8mm in size. How can this be after 4 months.

  Swaping to new DSB

  I've built a seperate room so that i can move my DSB from under my DT. There will be two 1000mm x 300mm x 350mm tanks one above each other. Overflow from DT to top tank with T3 skimmer, DSB and ATS above, overflow to lower tank with DSB and pumped back to DT. Now the question, can i transfer my old DSB sand to the other two new DSB's or would it be better to let it cycle threw the old one as well untill the cycle is complete then remove the old DSB.

  Pumps

  I'm a bit confused, is there any difference between a fresh water and saltwater pump. I was at a LFS to buy a pump and the person who helped me said that the spesific pump is saltwater ready, i asked him to explain but he couldn't tell me. Has it got something to do with the shaft or casing. I know the pumps i use has ceramic impellers but besides that is there something else i'm missing.

  Help with return pump rating

  I've got six tanks on a stand, three on each side, one above the other and a sump in the centre below.
  Each of the top tanks are 140ltrs and the sump 200ltrs.
  The highest point of the stand is 2100mm. The piping for the return is 25mm,there are 3 off 90 elbows on the return line and a T right at the top to fill the tanks left and right side.
  Each tank has a overflow pipe of 50mm with two way soil vent valve and reduced to 25mm into the next tank.
  I tried a 3000ltr/hr return but the pump can't do the job. Should i make the return line smaller or go for a bigger pump.

  Anemone and Clowns

  Is it normal for different clown species to host in one anemone, i've got a H Magnifica and my two Ocellaris clowns and one Tomato clown are all hosting in the same one, they sometimes do mock attacks but not really agggresive. Has anyone experienced this before.

  Invader snails

  I collected some zoas from North coast a few months back, (valid permit) a few days ago i found a crazy looking snail on one of the zoas, white and green of colour and all curled like a boere wors, about 10mm across. I dumped it in the DSB but yesterday i found another one on one of the other zoa, same species.
  Now i think i've got trouble coming my way, i looked in the Jan/Febr 2010 Coral mag and here is the same oke, HELIACUS VARIEGATUS, loves zoas, if i found two there must be more. This must be bad luck for me, any advise.

  Anemone walking

  Hi every one, my nennie doesn't seem to come to rest, every day it's on a different spot. All parameters are in place and the lights are running from 0600 till 20h00, i've got 5 x t5 80watts. Clowns are happy in there playground and the nennie is in a very good condition, feeding every second day, any comments.

  Playsand VS Aragonite

  I want to remove all the playsand in my DT and replace it with aragonite because i just have this feeling that the playsand is the cause of all the algea problems i have since i started my new tank. I've spend to much on additives, water changes and what else to control this outbreak. The tank is running now for 15 weeks. The DSB also got playsand in ( 180mm ) but would rather leave it as it is. I've replaced all the filters and membrane on my RO unit so the TDS is correct. Please help.

  Great Barrier Reef

  A Chinese vessel was stranded for one week on the Great Barrier reef causing significant damage to the corals, about 1km long.The toxic paint they use on the hull is also spreading and killing everything in the surrounding area.These stupid people took a shortcut route and look what they have done, i get realy mad.

  T5 Lighting -80Watts wiring

  Good day every one, please give some advise, must the wire between the fluorescent tube and the ballast be a certain lenght, the canopy at the moment is to heavy and a hassle to remove it every time. I'm busy building a new one and i don't want to fit the ballasters inside the new canopy (to make it as light as possible) I would rather fit them some place else, about 3mtrs away.
  Any ideas welcome.
