hi all Jeremy Williams from dive factory is coming to UKZN Underwater Club this Thurs to chat about equipment and what to consider when diving deep vs shallow. Informal talk, bring and braai, we open at 17h30, talk starts around 18h00... Will be the first of a series of talks and presentations instead of a formal course to help the newbies and refresh the oldies :)
this is primeraly relating to spearfishing but could be usful for colecting aswell

got them to build up a hood for a standerd 4ft but now going to a smaller cube

Hi I am going to be moving into a smaller place and have diciced ill need to downscale the tank. I want to do it properly from the getgo this time and whant to start it from scratch.
my plan is for a 600lx500wx450h tank water level at 400. preferably rimless. as a diyer I would like to build this myself but am looking for somone in durban with some tank building experience to help me in this as it would be my first tank build.

all diyed. I have the mh and the t5 endcaps looking for the t5 balasts. was planing a similat setup for the 4 ft so have 3 54w double ballasts and 2 spare 150w mh maby I can swap someone for the smaller ballasts.
probably use the small 2ft I have at home for a sump with cheato and the skimmer and maby some extra LR and my diy ato.
looking to keep mainly sps and a few fish like 3 chromis -

hi I am leaving for a 2 week business trip first thing tomorrow morning and my tank has turned all milky. I dont have time to figure out whats wrong and I dont whant my ls to die while I am away my mother can barely look after the tank when its healthy so im looking for somone to house my livestock till I get back in 2 weeks

Hi I have notice my water has started to turn milky and am not sure why.
I have not been doing anything recently exept vodka as usual.
it started on the glass as a sort of slimy film but when I cleend the glass the water was christal clear behind it but now it looks as though this milkynes has moved into the water columb aswell and im not sure what to do about it.
I thaught it might be some sort of bacterial bloom so cut back on the vodka dosing but it has just got worse. -

Hi all I am in the process of re-driling my tank for a bigger overflow going fron 2x25mm to 2x25mm +1x40mm. It was sugested to me yesterday that I might want to glue another piece of glass onto the tank to reinforce the hole seeing as there is so much more weight etc in the bigger plumbing.
What are your thoughts on this? -

Hi I love the look of sps and have had one test frag in my tank for about 3 months now seems happy with the lighting ect so now I am looking for a few more colorful small frags if any one has some going cheap my tank is primarily local specimens but unfortunately the regulations don't allow us to collect sps so they unfortunately have to be foreigners ;) -
Skimmer project

Hi all I am planing a now monster skimmer for my tank.
I managed to organize a off cut of 250mm pipe about 600mm long from a water treatment plant that I did some work at last year I plan to use this as my reaction chamber.
what im trying to figure out now is what size pump I will need to fun this I am planing it to be a ventury skimmer at this point but may add recirculation at a later stage -

Hi all it has come time to upgrade my overflow it has been needed for some time but has become a priority since my dt overflowed when I was out of the country last month when the overflow got blocked currently my tank is drilled for 2x25mm overflows I am looking to borow a 50mm glass hollsaw in durban to upgrade to that size I doubt it will be able to block then:) -

I need to drain my sump to install devidersand I obviously don't whant to leave my tank without its sump for too long how long do I need to let the silicone cure befor I can re fill it?
