  adult grey tang colouration

  could anyone help me with a pic as to the adult colouration of the grey tang.i bought it from exotic reefs about 3months back and they regularly have these in stock.i have been told recently that they are of the same family as the orange shoulder tang.(i can see the resemblance in body shape)any help will be greatly appreciated.

  t5 tubes running without ballasts

  just got hold of a t5 unit that has 4 bulbs without any ballasts.the tubes are some german brand that costs something likeR450 each.can i run the normal aquamedic-sylvania lights in here or will i have to change to external ballasts?

  just aded purigen to my sump this morning(in last compartment next to return pump).the minute i added the purigen my skimmer went mad releasing lots of fine bubbles.any ideas around this problem? thanks in advance.

  after having used seachem seagel for about 2weeks now with great results i decided to get myself some purigen this morning and placed it in the sump(last compartment by the return pump).problem im having is that the minute i added the purigen my skimmer went mad,bubbling excessively.something my corals did not like very much cause the bubbles ended up in the return pump.i`ve switched off the skimmer this morning but obviously need a solution.any suggestions? thanks in advance.ps its a via aqua skimmer.

  lighting dilemma

  i managed to get my 150w aquamedic metal halide unit back that i had on my previous setup of about 5years back.i was completely happy with this unit as i only keep softies(previous setup had a medium clam that did well with this light unit as well).my dilemma is the fact that i`m worried about electricity consumption.when i was reefing last(about 5years back) electricity tariffs wasnt what it is today.could someone maybe set me at ease? how would the 150w MH compare to 4 t5s in consumption terms? any feedback will be appreciated.

  hey all.starting up my reef tank again after about 5 years and was just checking the net to see if theres anything new about.i must say this is a very informative forum and i've been reading around the forum for the past 2 hours before finally saying hi.will be starting her up next week with approx 20kg live rock.(standard 1.2m tank)the price of electricity has made me look around for alternatives to MH and i think ive just found that on the forum as well in the form of LEDs.will be looking at doing everything the same as my last setup as it proved to be very successfull to me.nothing fancy,just gonna do the basics right and give her lots of love.(i'm a bit nutty when it comes to caring for my tank).anyways,will certainly be roaming the forum a lot in the future.
