Hi guys
Im thinking of running a scrubber in my sump, middle section. So overflow from chamber one over the scrubber into chamber 3. Anyone doing this at the moment?

Urgent help needed Clown fungus

This started showing up 3 days ago. He isnt eating, and the one fin is split.
I have started adding vitamin c supplements to try and get the immune system going. Its not possible to catch him to qt. Is there any other immune boosters I can try? Or any other advice?

Open or closed hood?

Just want to hear you guys' thoughts on hood design...
I have always had a tank with a closed hood with T5's hanging of the top of it just over the water surface. Just happened to have bought the same design each time. So with LED lighting seemingly the way to go I, most designs are for open tank setups.
Come September I am planning to go LED, the cost factor in the long run, electricity etc - it just makes sense to switch now.
My only concern is the closed tank idea. I have always preferred it. Don't have issues with fish jumping out, no dust (or other crap) can enter the system. It all just seems better and safer if its closed off.
So am I being paranoid about an open top system or do I just take whichever LED option i go for and build it into a hood?

Why does my sump not have algae

Why is it that my sump has crystal clear glass, cept for some coraline patches here and there. No film algae at all. While in the DT I have to clean the glass every few days.
I have 2x T5's so plenty light for the macro algae in the sump.
The sump glass never ever needs cleaning....Why is that... -

How do I calculate how long my UPS will run if i have a return pump connected to it. The pump is 50W i think. This is the specs from the UPS:

Output power:1200 Watt / 2000VA 220 Volt AC

Powder blue tang care

So im looking at adding a new tang to my setup, which is a 1.5m 700L. I have 4 tangs. I recently removed the largest, which was a sailfin.
I have been looking at options and its either a Gem tang or powderblue.
Now i have had a wipe-out before because of a powder blue. The plan is a 6 week QT this time around, doing waterchanges from the DT into the QT tank. This way i should see if any possible parasites that may exist in the DT affect the powder blue. Do you guys think that would be a good way to do it? -

So we all know that T5's lose their output
Here is a pic of a new T5 and a 6 month old T5, both reeftek 10k. Notice the difference if you look at the reflectors under the tubes. :eek:

So i converted my sump into a frag tank. I didnt want the extra hassles of a seperate tank for frags... I came up with the idea of converting the sump.
I added a square piece of egg crate and a T5 light fixture. And this is the result.
Oh and i picked up the egg crate with my bike :lol:

So i had to catch my sailfin and came up with this idea. Note that i caught the naso about 5 times before i got the sailfin to fall for it :P

Hi guys I have a free sailfin to a good home. He is prone to nip at my zoas, but also and absolute beaut of a fish. Sad to see him go. URGENT to go, he is in my sump.
