I bought this Jebo in Mosselbay last year and finally decided to do something with it. I drilled a 20mm outlet and added a 6lt "filter sump" to it which has some Matrix and LR rubble in it together with a Boyu WG428 skimmer. The standard top filter I replaced with Purigen,Carbon and PhosXtrax. The light I also changed to a PL24w (white blue combo) and need to just add a mini waver in there. Livestock,sixline wrasse and maroon clowns.

Hey peeps,just a quick one.
A customer donated 2 of these fish to me today so my question is will one of them in the sump deplete my pod population and or? The DSB area is 1100 x 400 with LR, some red/green bubble caulerpa, fern type and blade type as well together with 3 rocks of aptasia (a mix of things I know but thats why its called a sump ;) )

Strange fish or worm?

Hey peeps, was cleaning my tank last night and decided to move some Zoas over to the other side of the tank. I picked up the last colony and out came this fishy type thing. I dropped the rock and started watching it swim around looking for another rock to dive into but couldn't find one. I then decided to grab my phone and record it. Took the first 30sec in the dark then decided to put the lights on for another recording. It had red color towards the back half and looked like a Goby with no fins? Then,just when I decided to put lights out as the other fish were coming out of their holes and Piccasso was darting for him...in he goes to the flow pump :eek: Instant fish meal. I was sadly dissapointed to say the least,all that excitement then :( Busy uploading the videos now. It swam very fast so I struggled to keep up. -

So in January what started as me just being curious as to a friend who's brother had a tank just standing in a house he purchased turned out to be quite fruitful for me or so I thought. It had a closed loop system and apparently everything still worked.
The picture he sent me. Who knows who's tank this was?
Then I found out 2 pumps were burnt out,replaced them. Had a look at the closed loop system and didn't like it one bit. The pump was clogged with sand and just didn't seem practical and the plumbing was a nightmare I tell you,putty on all the joints!
Anyway,I proceeded with the sale and started to build the stand. Learning to weld again was fun. I am naturally left handed but the right hand does a better job.
Was busy with the sump too then. Putting it all together and drilling the holes. Man that was a nerve wrecking job,takes some serious patience I tell you.
The bigger one was for the skimmer and small one for RO top up float.
Then it all came together.
I covered the holes for the closed loop and using flow pumps instead. Still a bit to do still. Installed 2 40mm down pipes for the overflow. Using a 1000Lph pump supply for the skimmer. Return pump is 6000Lph. Currently have 2 250w Halides and still planning the hood/canopy. I have 80kgs play sand, 70kgs Aragonite, 30kgs of Coral Line and still its not enough LOL. Still a long way to go but all is running well and already have my rocks and fish in.
Will update next week again after all is settled. My fish think they in the olympics, coming from a 1200x500x500 to a 2250x700x700 all they do is dart across and follow each other all the time where as before they were enemies! -
Advice on tank stand...

Good day peoples,I need your advice/input on stand I need to be built for a 2200 x 700 x 700 tank. I'm hoping someone with a similar setup can help out. I wish to extend the stand up to 3m to stretch and fill the wall. Will be housing the rest of the goodies along with a external skimmer which is a DNW 200 I think.

How long can a fish stay out of the water?

I'm curious because I had an incident back in November but my wife & I still talk about it.
Her favorite fish which happens to be a Piccasso Trigger was absent from feeding one morning. I thought nothing of it maybe he was chilling somewhere. So the night I get home I still didn't see him. I then decided to throw in some food just to make sure again. After scouting the whole tank I see the mesh on the overflow is missing? I thought its not possible,he cant fit in there (32mm).
I then told the wife he is missing,she got upset. Told me to check the pipes and I said but everything is running normal still. After much thought we realised it can only be there (yes she was right).
I go to close the ball valve and it wouldn't budge. It then hit me...Not knowing whether he was alive or not I quickly shut everything down and got a torch to see up the pipe and there he was head up (against the flow).
He wasn't moving so assumed he was dead. I took the pipe to toilet and sprayed water through but wouldn't move...poked it with a acrylic tube to push it down and still nothing. By then I thought oh well sadly...
So I go the garage and unsure if I had extra fittings I pull out the heat gun to try and loosen things up. That didn't happen as the pipes were just softening so I twisted it and as it opened there this fish (called ZEB) was gasping for air. Man I couldn't believe it but just as fast as that thought sprung to mind I was up and running for the sump. I blew air into it and out he shot but he was clearly out of it. Bouncing off the glass as if he were blind.
Then I thought i'd put him back in the DT so it would be familiar for him but still bounced along for about 15mins.
He came around a little later and back to his usual munching ways.
Now there was a big time lapse from being in the water and out. So I still don't know how he survived all of that. -

So I was in CPT over December early January and took some time out (well 2 days because they spread out) to visit all the sponsor shops. It was so interesting to see because none of them were similar. Some look so professional (clean) as if you were afraid to purchase anything.
Then there were others you could go down the aisle and get excited to see whats around the next.
I did find some things one would normally wait months for down here and of course the price difference. Mainly in coral and lighting but the rest was way cheaper.
Anyway, I must say you guys and gals are really sploilt for choice. We currently only have one shop currently and one aisle so hence my excitement when I was there.
All in all, good exprience :thumbup: -

Hey peeps, been reading the threads on lighting but didn't get the answer I'm looking for so now you guys and gals so help me on this one.
I just changed my hood using aluminium channels sprayed white. Now with the space it offers I can load up with 12 T5's but I will be using 39W. Center channel is reversed so it sits lower than the outside two.
I have the following:
* 4 - 10 000k white
* 3 - coral blue
* 2 - aqua pink
* 2 - power glo (reddish)
* 2 - coral stars (blue)
In my mind I'm leaning toward using 10 of them.
So which would work/look best? I have a rather mixed reef.

Hey peeps, I work in the fishing industry and as the season ends I now see more and more different fish being caught in the net. Sometimes a few weird ones too, I recently saw a tan color fish which was about 8-10mm round/thick but as long as my arm with a mouth probably the length of my forearm.
As of late a lot of Rays and small Sharks came through, probably feeding. -

Good day peeps, can someone explain the molting process to me. Been google-ing and cant really grasp it.
My understanding is that they leave their shell to do it. But now on two occasions I have found the remains of it and a crab still in the shell? Do I have another one hiding or do I clearly just not understand? :eek: -

Noticed on saturday my carpet anemone decided to clone himeself. the problem is that he is attached to a rock which my other anemone has its base bolted on. i wanted to move the small rock then saw the other has burrowed under the rock and attached himself to it. they are back to back.
what would be the best way to remove one that has split? -

Found this guy cruising in the DT after dark. Took him out and placed in the sump to get a better view and snap. Looks like a slug with white dots on his tentacles.

Couldnt post under for sale.
I have a bird mouth wrasse available for free to whom ever. Fish was purchased by my father about a year ago when we moved and left the tank with him. He just bought whatever he thought was cool i think. Anyway he is majorly aggressive towards the Fox face so we decided to take tank down and start fresh as he seriously neglected it. Corals died, water changes were slow etc.
Give me a shout if youre interested.

Finally got a snap shot of him. Had the wife on one end as i tried to steer him,littlte bugger dives and burrows rather fast. Ive seen a similar post by SAMMY earlier but doesnt have the big claw.

Sabae anemone...

Last night my anemone decided to go for a trip around the aquarium. Sadly this morning I woke to find him jammed in the wave maker (Resun 15000L) so much so that I had to dismantle it to get him out. No idea how he got in there either. He lost half his tentacles but still alive. Will he be able to recover from this? What should I do?
