Redsea NO3:PO4-x worked a charm!

Thought Id give some feedback on the great results i got with it.
My tank was in its works state its ever been in 2 weeks ago. Cyano and green hair algae had taken over badly from out of no where.
The cyano was frustrating all my corals so they were closed as well, it really was a disgusting sight. Was on the verge on shutting up shop as i couldnt stand seeing my tank in that state and nothiing seemed to be working.
Reduced my feeding by 2/3s and decided to try Redsea No3:PO4-X as my final attempt to sort it out and.... a week n a half later my tank is pretty much cyano free and the hair algae is dying off and mostly gone as well.

I'm super stoked with the results! it really worked well and fast!!

both of these have grown from being 1 head frags( thought I'd throw that in there)

Hi guys, got various things lying in the back at home that i figured it was time to sell:

5 ft cabinet tank, quite scratched and some hinges need replacing..
Corner over flow.
+/- 350 system
tank dimensions: 1500x500hx45w
height of cabinet: 1.67m
Small box sump and therefore not an ideal reef tank but great as a good looking quarantine tank, low stocked fish only tank or fresh water system.

Old 920 x510 x 500 tank
free to who ever wants it

2 sets of 2x54w t5s with water proof caps, diy ballasts and reflectors.
Globes are about 6 months old.

+/- 30kg of sugar fine aragonite. Was used as dsb

Deltec APH525 Skimmer
love this skimmer: its an old badger with a crack in the neck and glue here n there but punches well above it weight. Really grafts well. Was my sole skimmer on my 500l mixed reef for close to a year and did the trick! Wouldnt recommend it for a tank that size though.
Although it is an external skimmer, the seal isnt 100s so recommend it be used internally.

Came home last night to find half a bristle worm sticking out one of my paly polyps! Sure enough the half, became a quarter and then dissapeared as the polyp fully chowed it! couldnt believe it!!

I could be the only dude amazed by this but I thought I'd share anyway;)

really bums me out to do this but I have to.
My beautiful regal tang has picked up a habit of eating my zoas over the last couple of weeks. Can destroy a colony in a day or two:(

Is a very special fish to me so would rather give her away and have a choice in which home she goes to, if that makes sense.

So if you keen on her and dont have any zoa colonies;), let me know on the thread or pm- Ill check out your systems thread and make a decision.

brown 'rot' spreading through Zoas

I've lost 2 colonies to this 'rot' this year and not its started to nail one of my favourite colonies so need advice.
From what ive seen, it will start with one polyp closing, going brown and slimy, and then it just spreads and can take out a colony in 2 weeks..
Firstly, what is it?
cause?
and solution other than trying to chop off the bad section to save the rest??

Porcelain crab chilling inside anemones mouth

hey guys

just thought I'd check if anyone else has seen this behaviour before.
My porcelaain crab often just chills right inside my bta's mouth!! sometimes only his main pincers are sticking out! sometimes for a few hours, and when he's over it he just climbs right out!
this normal or strange or??

Incredible Clowns

So I had been wanting a pure black ocellaris clown or two for quite a while now. Last weekend I finally bought a tank bred pair, tiny guys, still with their juv pale faces.
Ive had my current ocellaris clown for close to two years now, and I had concern because every website says you cant have more than one clown in your tank unless they are mated pair.... But I've seen stax of guys with a few clowns in their tanks, so I figured it was the same rule as dont keep more than one tang/angel in a tank- yet no one really follows that rule and it works out.

Still there was quite a bit of risk, given that my other clown was very established in my tank and 3x the size of these little guys. But I figured that he would just protect his territory around his anemone and my new clowns would just have to keep their distance and chill on the other side of the tank.

So I took the risk, bought them and added them in the far side of tank from my established clown.
They chilled together in the corner of my tank for about 2 min, and then started swimming straight for the anemone, and I thought oh no, my clown is going to nail them!
Well these lil tank bred clowns, swam straight passed my clown who seemed to just ignore them and straight into the anemone!!!
I could not believe my eyes!!

My other clown took about 2 months to move into anemone and these little guys found it, and were playing in it within 5 minutes of being introduced to the tank!!
I was dumbfounded!

They are constantly squabbling with each other during the day, I'm guessing to get rights to be the mate of my other clown??, but at night they all shack up together peacefully in the nennie.

So my nennie is now hosting 4! My three clowns and my porcelain crab, amazing!!

School of firefish

Anyone had any experience with keeping a decent size school of firefish?

I love the little guys and keen to try a school of 5 or so.. From what I know they live in large schools in the wild..

I did a google search and to my surprise it was not advised. Guys say a mated pair or just one on it's ace because they don't get along and will kill each-other off but from my experience with them that seems unlikely.. I has my one firefish for over a year on his ace, I added two purple firefish to the tank a few months ago and he didn't have a problem with them at all. They stuck together, all slept in the same hole...
But recently 2 of them died for no real reason, so im keen to add a group to replace them...

Any Words of wisdom?

About 2-3 days ago a small branch of my colt totally closed up totally and started going blackish, it has remained that way but now the evil is spreading. Its far from a happy coral now:( It almost looks like a black algae or slime spreading.
Any advice on what it is and what I must do to sort it out??

Excuse the bad photo's- they dont really show it clearly but they better than nothing for now, will load better ones when i have a chance

so woke up this morning to find a big spider web looking thing around my clam stretching above and around it too.
Closer to the base of the clam it was more like a jelly feel.
couldn't find much on the web about it.

What is it and why is my clam producing it?

the clam hasnt been looking distressed or unhappy, well from what I know about clams- pretty new to them. Had this guy for about a month and a half now.

any insight will be appretiated.

Shrimp killing worm?

So yesterday evening i arrive home to find one of my cleaner shrimps, who was happy n healthy in the morning, dead! At closer inspection the was a thin red worm attached to him and or chowing him that extended about 15-20cm back into the rock behing it.

So my question is, what type of worm is this? and could it of killed my shrimp or was it just looking for a meal and found my dead shrimp??

When I removed the shrimp the worm gave a good go at trying to keep its meal but then quicky retracted into the rock, which I then moved to the sump.

cant really see it from the photo so I tried to help in the 2nd photo;)

It was seriously long and thin, even stuck out the other side of the rock!

Alright, let me start with the story behind this tank:

I started with marines close to 1 and a half years ago. I started with 5ft 350l fowlr display tank and ended up setting up a little pico and then nano about six months ago so that i could keep at least some corals.. I did things very cheaply from the start being a broke student and looking back now i had great luck with everything considering, how litttle I spent on equipment and what not..
But over time the maintenance of two tanks, and extra maintenance because of the cheap way I started got really frustrating!
So when I graduated from being student, and finally had some extra cash to spend at the end of last year, I decided to combine the nano and display tank into one nice reef and do it properly for a change so that the admin would reduced as much as possible.

Very long story made short there, but anyway: onto my new tank!

Dimentions: 1400L x700w x450h
( love the shallow reef vibe)

Sump is: 1100Lx 45W with dsb and section for live rock

Equipment:
Skimmer: Deltec APH525

Return pump: Hailea HX-6550

Two little fishies Phosban reactor

Sort of diy auto top up, just using a bucket for now but must get a proper top up tank

For flow: was planning on 3 sunsuns as I struggled to justify paying thousands on flow, but I was given a demo of a vortech and offered an amazing price, and that was that:/ So I have 1 vortech MP40es and using a sunsun 5000lph with it.

Lighting: 4ft Odyssea light unit, 2x 150W mhs and 4x54W t5s

Life stock: I transferred everything from my old 350L tank, well the reef safe fish I did and sold my angels n what not..

Lifestock I brought across:

Naso Tang
4xChromis
Clownfish
Firefish goby
Bi color blenny
2xcleaner shrimp

Yellow banded boxing shrimp

Goniopora( wouldnt of bought one but was given to me by a fellow reefer, was dying in his tank, was totally retracted-looked like a lumo green zoa rock, and its made a great recovery in the tank, stoked!!)

And a beautiful RBTA (Yes my tank is young, but I did research and other people had transferred systems from one tank to another and anemones did fine, I monitored the tank for 6 weeks before and it was stablel, so still took a bit of a risk but its doing great!)

about 30kg live rock in tank and about 15kgs in sump

Got this beauty about 2 and a half weeks ago.
Bought her with the rock she was attached to, she had expensive taste, was a 2kg+ rock;) Didnt move for the first 2 days and then on the third night moved underneath the rock ledge and hasnt moved since- praise the Lord!!. Her foot is attached under the ledge but the body stretches and opens up out into the open during the day and some nights, most nights she contracts underneath the ledge to come out in her glory first thing in the morning.
Urgent help needed Spinning naso

So a hour or so ago my Naso was perfect as per norm, went to go feed them a min ago to find him swimming on his side/Almost upside down and was like what!!!!!? Chucked in some brine and he ate but was spinning around!! He can't swim straight or up right! I would guess it has something to do with his swim bladder but what could've happened to damage the bladder??
And what do I do now??
