  pH problems

  Hi guys! My pH was 8.2 and I wanted to bring It up to 8.4 so I added some pH up and now It's 7.2. Does anyone know *** went wrong? There is now live stock in the tank coz It's still cycling, just some coralline and green hair algae.

  Macro Algae

  Hi guys! I want to start a little project with Macro algae. I've seen all sorts of marine tanks like FO, FOWLR, Reef only, reef with fish, picos, nanos, micro tanks etc. but no macro algae tanks similar to an ADA Planted tank.

  Live sand

  Heating problems

  Hey guys! I've mentioned in another thread that I'm going to restart my tank and I did. I did It yesterday (30/04/2012). I removed the sump and placed the 3500L/h return pump into my +- 40l DT to create movement (like a power head).
  
  The problem that I'm facing now Is heat. The tanks temp. Is stabilizing @ +-40°C.
  
  Now how do I explain my current situation?
  1) I work as a bartender so there is no money to buy a chiller unless I save up for one.
  2) Its a very small tank so there Is no room for a huge fan to keep It cool.
  
  I think/know It's the return pump that's generating the heat. If I replace the return pump with a power head with the same L/h than that would mean that the temp. would remain the same? If the temp. remains the same than I'll HAVE to save up for a chiller.
  
  What do you guys think?

  550 liter tank swop/sell

  Hey guys! I'm moving into a flat and there is no space for my tank. I want to sell It for R2000 or swop It for a smaller tank (± 200 liters with sump, stand and return pump or for one of them nano cube thingies).

  Urgent help needed Fish without a mature tank

  I made a mistake by getting the fish first. They are under quarantine and I'm treating them for Ich via the transfer method. I'm getting my 500 liter tank this Thursday.Is there a way to keep a FO tank without live rock by adding chemical liquids to filter the water and then slowly add more live rock?

  Return pump

  Hey guys! I went looking for a return pump today at the pet shops and I'm still confused. The pump I'm looking for is for a 25l sump with a 60l display. I found one today that I think might do the trick but It's so expensive and I don't even know If It's too much or too little flow.

  Urgent help needed Something's eating my Zoanthids

  Hey guys! Something is eating my Zoanthid's tenticles and I don't know what. I did a fresh water dip on all of my zoanthids for 5 min to get rid of unwanted pest a week ago before I added them to my display. I fear It might be the fish and I also fear that they might get poisoned. I think It's the Tang because he is grazing allot.
  
  Fish
  1 Convict Tang (the size of a matchbox) I think It's the Tang coz he is grazing allot.
  1 Blackspot Sergeant (the size of a 20 cent)
  
  Tank
  50 liters
  2 Aquaclear 50 HOB filters
  Heater
  Live rock (I don't know how much but, It takes about 30% water volume)
  No sump or refugium
  
  I know It's a crappy tank but, I'm slowly building It up (getting my refugium and pumps on the 15th of this month.)
  
  PS. It's only the one colony of zoanthids that is affected

  Zoanthid juice in eye

  Hey guys! I have bad news! I got squirt by this zoanthid in my eye on Monday and rinced my eye out with water and felt fine untill today (Wednesday). (It's like rubbing chillies in your eye). So In a few minutes I'm gona go to the ER. Ek is nou besig om my gat af te stress! I will keep you guys posted!

  Green hornet zoanthids

  Hey guys! I would like to know if there are green hornet zoanthids growing on the KZN's coast line. The reason I am asking is because I found something like this (Pic below) on Toti beach, but its mouth is green with much more tentacles and only the tips are green. I will try to post a proper pic of them tomorrow.

  Temperature for local specimens

  Hey guys! I'd like 2 know If I need a heater for local specimens in Durban. I collect all my specimens locally here in Durban/Amanzimtoti. My Pico reef's temperature fluctuates between 22C-24C, but is mostly at 24C. I fear that If I increase the temperature I might kill all my coral, macroalgae, zoanthids etc. Any advice will be sufficient.
