Hi. Noticed something weird in my tank 2 days ago. While cleaning the glass I noticed some slug like thing sticking its head out from one of the live rocks. At the same time this thing was "blowing smoke rings out" at every two to three seconds. Not to sure if this would be toxic for the fish, I grabbed the rock out of the water and tried pinching it out. But it just went deeper in. Still determined, I managed to get the head out, which had a hard shell like covering and subsequently the body, which basically felt and looked like a pickled gerkin!! It may have been about 4 to 5 cm long and about as thick as an average pinkie. Sorry was not able to photograph. Any ideas? Should I be concerned that there are more of them?

Hi all,
please help!!!! AGAIN!!!!
Is the use of metronidazole effective in the treatment of white spot in a reef tank.
I was told to strain some live brine shrimp into a container and mix the powdered
medication into this. Wait a few minutes, then feed the fish.
Problem is the one that is most severly affected is not feeding
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
THanking you in advance.

Hi please help, tank 4 months old. Checked parametrs Saturday, everything fine. Have wrasse for two months. Suddenly started "sleeping" this afternoon as well. He usually goes to "sleep" at about 6pm and awakes at about 8am. He does this by burrowing under the gravel. He awoke later this afternoon, but is now lying on his side, breathing heavily. Has not eaten today. All other fish 100%
Any suggestions PLEASE.

Hi, very new to the scene, tank is 2 months old. Got a colony of zoas in for about a month. They seem very happy until a few days ago. The whole colony has closed (as when lights switched off), now refuses to re-open. I noticed the blood shrimps hanging around on top of them quite alot. I have subsequently moved the colony to the other end of the tank and hopefully the pair of shrimps do not follow. I have yet to see an improvement.
Any thoughts or advice will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.(by the way all parameters normal)

Hi, I am very new to this game. My tank is currently 7 weeks old. I managed to take a photograph of someithing, which my local pet shop identified as bristleworm. Having read some previous encounters on this site, I am now terrified to put my hands into the tank. Is there a way to get rid of them? I believe you can make a trap with some pvc pipping and end caps. What size hole do I drill into the end caps and what would be appropriate bait?
Also, the other day I noticed something stuck to the glass in the form of a spiral. When I attempted to remove it (this was before I saw the bristleworm!!!), it felt like mucous and broke into pieces. Its a pity I did not photograph it. Any ideas what this could be?
Other than that, tanks coming on well, got 2 cleaner shrimps, a few hermits and a few turbo snails.
Thank you

Hi All,
Please help! My new marine tank has been running for 4 weeks now. I have live rock, 1 star polyp and 1 mushroom ?polyp. A few days ago I noticed lots and lots of little creepy crawlies on the glass and tank bed. They, for lack of a better description, look like lice!!! The largest specimen I have seen is about 5mm long, they have a pair of longish feelers and are off-white to transparent in colour.
My water parameters are all 100%, this includes temp, SG, pH, Phos, Nitrites, Ammonia and kH approx 9.
Is it time to introduce the clean up crew?
What are they? What do I do?
HELP! HELP! HELP!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry not famous yet, trying to get there. Just maybe my town will help!
I am new to the marine fish world. My set up is about three weeks old. Waiting for water to mature before introducing fish.
The reason I stumbled upon this site, is that I was actually looking for an inverter for my tank. Now having read all the discussions about pure vs modified sine wave, I am totally confused! Should I just invest in a modified sine wave inverter or do I really need pure sine wave?
Please help!
